Isn't ABA produced in the roots?

Yes it is also produced in the roots. When the soil is dry the roots will secrete ABA to stimulate wilting.

@@STPM_BioWorld ABA is of course all about internal water management except in the case of abscission. For pre U level, I would imagine thinking about the coupled actions of ABA on vacule Ca vis a vis K and Ci efflux is appropriate.
