Hello aspring Biomedical Engineers!
We have one of our most desired videos here. We constantly get the question, "What can I expect to earn as a Biomedical Engineer?" The truth is, that that answer can vary depending on where you are, what company you work for, and what your role is.
So we did the impossible! We created a survey that we personally sent to BME's in the workforce, however, their responses were anonymous. We sent these out personally to ensure we can provide you with the most accurate answers from a variety of people with a variety of levels of experience and job titles. The only common denominator was a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Out of 75 professionals we reached out to, we received a response from 40, and randomly selected 20 responses to showcase in this video.
Therefore, this video accomplishes many things. Not only is it an informative and inspiring video, but it acts as primary data into our first research project in the Biomedical Engineering field. Thank you to everyone who participated, and thank you to our subscribers for your continued support!

Hello everyone! Hope you enjoy this video and get valuable information out of it. I’d just like to say these numbers are obviously not representative of every BME, and you’ll be able to tell some really big differences even with people in the same city. Would love to have more data for comparison, so if you’re a professional BME, please reach out to meri@thebmelife.com if you’d like to participate and provide your data for our next video. I’d also like to give a big thank you to all the participants who contributed to make this video possible. Disclaimer: yes, a lot of these people are in San Antonio, TX because that is where I currently have most of my network. We hope to expand our data to be able to provide more salary figures for people all across the country. Maybe one day we can also do this internationally. Lastly, please remember this is for informational purposes only. We just wanted to provide you all with 100% real data. ***These are salaries from YEAR 2020**** Thank you! -Meri

Hello meri, please i have a question and i need help. So I am in the French scoring system and I got 16,33 out of 20 in high school which officially equals an A/4.0 GPA system, I have studied 3 years in medical school but I wasn't good at it not even average, and I came to consider that it is not for me since my first year in med school but life hapenned and I couldn't quit but now am adamant on leaving to start in BME. I just want to know if I applied in a university to major in BME would they consider my three years medical school background or not cuz u know I am really not proud of it, so do you think it would at least reinforce my luck in getting admitted ?

I’ve been wanting to major in BME, but I’ve recently met an undergrad in BME who is giving me doubts. He went to uni in Arizona and graduated with flying colours. He has not been able to get any engineering jobs after graduating, and thinks he’ll never get an engineering job because he’ll never get the required experience. They applied for many internships many times during Uni but never got one. They also said that as a BME it’s a lot more difficult to get internships than an electrical engineer. I thought this could’ve been a big reason why they can’t get employed as an engineer. I also asked if they had been in any extracurricular engineering teams like a design team, he said no. So, I thought that could’ve been why he couldn’t get internships which in turn leads to him not getting employed. Also, I thought that maybe their state or area didn’t have enough opportunities for BMEs. What are your thoughts on this? Do you have any advice for me? I’d really love to major in BME, but I want to ensure I’ll work as an engineer after I graduate, and I’ll be able to get internships during uni, thanks.

Meri, your content and passion for providing your subscribers this information is invaluable. Salary is one of the main questions that is always presented to you. In my own opinion, following a career or a degree because it pays the most might lead you to unhappiness because you might not have a passion for the job or career. It's not how much you make, yet how you spend it. Hope you have a great day, and week. Take care

Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to comment that :) It's people like you that motivate us to make content on this channel! I completely agree, having money only in mind can lead to unhappiness. My hope is that this video only inspires people who already want to be BME's or BioE's. Hope you have an amazing day! :D

Choosing to be a BME is one of the most reliable career paths in engineering. As technology develops and we move more towards computer software and software as a medical device, the need for expertise on how to meet FDA regulations continues to increase. I can’t tell you how many recruiters contact me a day... Let me know if i can help in anyway on this channel. I have been in the medical device world now for 7 years as a Validation Engineer and Quality Engineer.

@TheBMELife

Honestly, some of these salaries were pretty low. But you also must consider these are mostly entry-level people. But it also highly depends on the area. I do not base a job off salary, but it's important. But hey, if you didn't like these salaries then maybe the video fulfilled its purpose of informing you and now you can make a personal decision on whether you want to pursue or not. No right or wrong answer, it's up to every individual.

@@jinluvvz6596 I agree, depending on what area you want to focus in, you probably won’t use a majority of what you learn in those calculus classes. I only came across needing to know the fundamentals of statistics in all my career in the med device and pharma world. You just need a basic understanding of those things.

Hi what's your opinion about masters to work in medical device manufacturing company. MS in Industrial Engineering or MS in manufacturing engineering or MS in Biomedical Engineering.
