Hi Sara! Just got the call today, I’ll be fitted for the Bioness on April 4th. I require a cane to walk. I’m excited to see if this will help. Once again, thank you for the videos. Best wishes from our family to yours.

@@SaraslivingwithMS Maybe not the place to ask, but is the concept similar to the WalkAide by Hangar?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ve used both the L300+ and the Walkaide device for my foot drop condition. I found both to be effective for “simple” foot drop. I will soon be starting to use a new device called the Cionic Neural Sleeve. It also uses fes technology, but it assists with more muscle groups in the leg. It addresses more than just foot drop.

Thank you for the video. Foot drop isn’t just an annoyance but responsible for falls and injuries caused by landing! I’ll be looking into this!

Yes. I just had a fall last week at home and it was out of nowhere. My leg just stuck and I tumbled. I do not wear the bioness at home unless I am cleaning or having a bad day. But maybe I should.

@@SaraslivingwithMS Absolutely the worst feeling when you can't trust your body. If this works for me, I'll pay out of pocket. I broke a rib and dislocated two others two weeks ago, snagging my dragging foot on loose hay while feeding livestock. The cost of the L300 Go would be worth it to keep me working.

To me, the main issue is the exhaustion. I have mostly avoided falls by being in a continuous state of awareness, swinging my leg ridiculously when needed, using a cane, walking extremely slow, etc. But all that, plus the effort of walking with the strength of only one and a half leg, is EXHAUSTING. I am set to test the L300 next week. I hope it helps. Thanks for the video!

I tried the L300 Go several years ago as well as the Walkaide. I greatly preferred the L300 go but insurance wouldn't approve and I was hesitant to pay myself. I don't remember all the wetness- I just would rub a wet finger over them before use and not quite so wet. The L300 Go didn't zap as harshly and was timed off a gyroscope vs just shin angle like the Walkaide so it worked correctly no matter how fast you walked, etc. much better. In Europe they don't seem to have issues with coverage but won't cover the AFOs which I find strange as they are so cheap. My issue, though, has now been correctly Dx as more calf spasticity vs true foot drop. Botox into my calf and back of my thigh (by my neuro every 3 months) are helping quite a bit as well as good Neuro PT. There are good Neuro PTs online that address foot drop as well - Gretchen Hawley of Msing Link and Tara Tobias of Rehab HQ like kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7ddhpCEqtu1lJ8.html

Did you have trouble getting insurance to cover the Botox? I eventually was able to try it in my calf, it did nothing for me, maybe made my foot a little floppy. I want to say the walkaide was the other device I tried, but I could not remember the name. I am so happy to hear the Botox and PT is helping you!

I have left ankle clonus. I wonder if it would help that. My right foot...drop foot. had been hit with issues in past but it's the left ankle clonus that bothers me the most. I'll talk to the PT about your bioness.

I hope so. I am. It familiar with that, but this device sends and electric simulation down your shin and helps pick you foot up and you control the amount of simulation. The annoying part is that it has to be wet so works best on skin, but I use it right over my pants and just deal with the wetness. I do have pants that are baggy enough to wear against my skin and that does work the best.

It’s a prescription so your doctor has to prescribe it. Then it depends on your insurance

It’s a prescription device so it depends on your doctor or physical therapist, you can ask for it. Most physical therapists know about it. My insurance covered a lot of the price as well. However I don’t remember the retail price, sorry. I will try to find that out.
