We can rebuild him. We have the technology. Those words launched one of the biggest TV shows of the 1970s, The Six Million Dollar Man, starring Lee Majors as Steve Austin, an astronaut who was badly injured but rebuilt into a superhero using Bionic technology. It ran for five highly rated seasons but also spawned a spin-off that was just as influential, The Bionic Woman, starring Lindsay Wagner. Both characters would go on to have a lasting place in pop culture and would be reunited in a series of TV movies that brought their on-screen romance to a fitting end, allowing them to live “Bionic Ever After.”
In this supersized episode of Gone But Not Forgotten, we dig into the lasting legacies of both shows and how they came to be in the first place.
Could they reboot this Bionic Couple? Let us know in the comments!

Woo! More Steve and Jaime! A wonderful show with great secondary characters. I loved Steve's parents, Oscar Goldman, Dr Rudy Wells, Peggy Callahan not to mention Max the bionic dog and later in a tv movie a bionic Sandra Bullock.

I don't remember any of those tv movies AFTER the series ended? Def had no idea Sandra Bullock had starred and also never heard her name pronounced "SHON-DRAH" either! lol

I watched Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic woman as a kid. I had a big crush on Lindsey Wagner. They were fun shows back in the day.

I saw him at DragonCon this year, along with Lindsay. He still looks like Steve Austin, only 50 years older.

I have the privilege of being old enough to have seen both these series when they originally aired along with all the other great series of the 70/80's. They just can't do great television like they use to. 🤘😎🎸🏍

Have you seen the cost of Bionic men these days? Scaled to inflation from 1973, the Six Million Dollar man would today be The Forty Six Million Dollar Man.

according to Hollywood it would be 6 Billion, i.e "The Six Billion Dollar Man" LOL (working title for the new one that's yet to be)

Steve Austin was my biggest hero when i was about 7-10. I still have the action figure somewhere. I had Maskstron too. I didn't think Andre the Giant as bigfoot was scary, just awesome.

@@bigneiltoo that sucks, I was born in 1972 so I know I didn't get to see the early seasons until syndication but I watched with my dad I assume the final 2 seasons as they aired? My grandmother ordered the figure for me via catalog and I got it for my 4th Birthday for it was my favorite show. I liked The Bionic Woman as well but not as much! Wonder Woman was up there with SMDM! Back then it was KISS, The SMDM, Charlie's Angels and Wonder Woman! In the '80s it was The Incredible Hulk and The Dukes of Hazzard and of course The Fall Guy!!! Heather Thomas HUBBA HUBBA!!!

@@raaawkstaaar Bionic Man was one of the coolest toys when I was in first grade. I remember when my friend let me hold one. I got to look through the Bionic eye. I got to peel up the rubber on the Bionic Arm and Leg. I loved Wonder Woman also. And Three's Company. Search on "The Not So Great Imposter".

Great video. I had Steve, Oscar and Maskatron action figures as a kid. Actually Oscar's suitcase contains a double bottom, one neat with cardboard files and a radar button, the other wrecked if you open the suitcase the wrong way. Brilliant toy!

I had Steve 2nd version w/ the orange steel beam vs. the OG one with the roll down rubber arm and engine block. I was always sorta bummed I didn't get that one. I did have the critical assignment legs. I also had Maskatron.
