@@stephenbyrne2170 1. it's a video game, so the answer doesn't matter 2. the Lutece twins who you encounter throughout the game were responsible for the discovery of quantum particles ("Lutece particles") that allow columbia to stay afloat- they aren't the only thing that keeps the city afloat though, as you can see numerous buildings and structures held up by balloons along with Lutece particles

@Fidelity The introduction of Rapture and Columbia were both captivatingly beautiful in their own ways (although I have a preference for Rapture) . Rapture was mysterious and majestic with its art deco themed, metropolitan style. Columbia was pretty and heavenly with its neoclassical, "4th of July" - coated architecture. I REALLY, REALLY hope there's a new Bioshock game with a brand new location, aesthetic and time period. I'm thinking maybe a 1950s, retro-futuristic city situated on the dark side of the moon.

Those horns and the blaring red lights give me goosebumps every time. They're so evocative and powerful, and it almost feels like they were made to be akin to Rapture. It's almost like they're there to say 'Worry not pilgrim, for there is salvation above.' with the horns as the voices of the angels and the lights as god's radiance breaking through the clouds. What a masterpiece of a scene.

Columbia and rapture really feels like heaven and hell. Rapture was a city underwater, it looks beautiful at first, but you realize it was already destroyed and decayed. The people inhabiting it turned mad and uncooperative. But Columbia’s city is in the clouds, looks and feels like heaven. The people are normal and are living their best lives.

@@kikifisselstein7322 I don't think so but I see why in the current political landscape it would present that way. You missed the point. Bioshock really is a commentary on what ideology does to people and what people are willing to do to stick to an ideology. The game didn't treat the workers revolt as good guys look at what they were willing to do to people. There was one quote from the anarchists where they said once they killed you they would rape Elizebeth and there were many times where they killed the innocent without mercy. No different than who they claimed to fight and the only difference is they claimed they were right for doing so.

I don't even recall most of the story, but that scene when they break through the clouds followed by "hallelujah" was so impactful, I had to scramble to figure out what it was from when I randomly remembered it. The timing, music, sheer intensity of the flight followed by the gentle drop down. We all like to make fun of the dumb bell puzzle, but god damn, everything that followed it in the intro couldn't have been more perfect.
