Bireli is a genius. Seemingly endless supply of incredible musical ideas just pour from his guitar. He never seems to repeat himself, and yet my ears are always perked whenever he plays. It's all so familiar and yet so brand new, so innovative. Sylvain Luc is the only other guitar player who can bring me to such listening heights. Aren't we all so fortunate to have Bireli beautify our lives with his incredible musicianship? Merci, Monsieur Lagrène!

Birelis playing is so fun, so surprising- and so emotionally packed. He always manages to hit my emotional center- like his playing is a perfect representation of himself. And I feel that. And as far as “chops” cmon even George Benson and Pat Martino are like “holy shit!!!!” I believe those of us to witness him live or really be familiar with his music- and be able to process it- we understand we are quietly witnessing the #1 greatest guitarist on planet earth at this time. And Franck is special too... as are the rest - Bireli lifts anyone he plays with to the top. I hope Bireli is doing ok during this crazy virus scare period. No gigs = no money. Much love and thanks to the group. 🙏🙏 May we return to live music soon... Thanks to whoever posted this concert!!!!

Merci du plus profond de tout les coeurs pour ces "Fingers Style Gitar", que vous mettez à jour à toutes heures.
Super tight band. Love Bireli's comping behind Franck's solos/melodies. Taking it to the next level.

I heard Bireli for the 1st time when he was 11 or 12 - already at that time he was a real "wunderking"; things haven't changed, apart that maybe today he is more integrating, mentoring & letting others shine compared to when he was little. However, I am quite old now and Bireli's childhood is long gone, so maybe I am biased. But he is undeniably one of the greatest gypsy jazz guitarists since Django Reinhard, the master of all times.

I wonder how long it would take Biréli to learn piano -- I bet after a year or two he'd be astronomical.!!
@mladigospon6 жыл бұрын
I think every classicaly trained musician knows some piano. As far as learning the instrument in 2 years, well, you should get a photographical memory first. Nevertheless, he would catch it pretty fast considering his existing knowledge and skills.

Fantastic concert! 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 All the crap prior to the nine minute mark should be deleted. And the birthday crap shouldn't have happened in the middle of the show. One other issue I have is that the person handling the video had no idea what he was doing. Long stage shots while the musicians solo, and generally not getting the correct shots of musicians soloing. Enough of my rant I just discovered Lagrène yesterday (11-21-2021). I've been o.d.ing on his music since then. My mind is BLOWN 🤯 by his playing and versitility. The musicians he surrounds himself with are exceptional; the best! The three hour gypsy show I watched was phenomenal! Until yesterday my favorite guitarists have been Pat Metheny & Phil Keaggy. Any more it is Biréli Lagrène! Bravo! Fantastic performance! 👏👏👏🥳👏👏👏 EDIT: Lagrène is not of this planet. 🛸

The tone of that guitar is incredible, does any one know what he plays?
@julkitan30174 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same (although Bireli sounds great on any guitar). I desperately tried to identify the guitar but could not find any info, I noticed he used it around 2017 for some videos ( the guitar sounds as similar but not as good as in this mix, the engineer did a great mix setting)… @23:48 on this video you can clearly read the label inside the big hole « Selmer Paris » but the 14 fret neck joint is something I’ve never witnessed.. D shape hole Orchestra Model normally comes with 12 frets, and fingerboard goes over the hole for extended frets which is not the case here.. i don’t know, maybe a custom replica or restaured one with different fingerboard..

Don't think so. That's at around 16:30. at 1:22:30 something crazy I don't recognize. Maybe a Bireli original. It goes from minor to major like he likes to do at the end of the old saw "Minor Swing". Pretty flashy tune though
