I return to Alkborough Nature Reserve hoping to photograph a very special bird.. and one that I've struggled to capture for years. I have to adapt to the unfolding situation - as I get a very interesting wildlife encounter!
I'm using a Canon R6 with Canon EF 500mm f/4 Mark i Lens. My tripod is an Induro CT404 with Manfrotto MVH502AG Fluid Head. I also share my best tips on carrying your camera and telephoto lens on a tripod. Do you have a method for carrying heavy gear? Please share with my KZfaq Community in the Comments Box below!

The mass leaving the ground is a stunner. Leighton Moss is my spot for them, usually on grit trays but have them on the gravel track as well

Beautifull bird, beautifull images, i could not get it yet. The environment en distance made a decent shot impossible for now.

Nice to see so many all at once in the open. In the reeds it is so difficult to get a clear open shot. At RSPB Rainham Marshes last week, although a little bit cheating, I got some lovely open shots of a Male and Female together on a grit tray. Once they went off into the reeds they were completely gone. A great little Bird.

They are absolutely beautiful. Yes, they are very hard to capture in the reeds. These ones were often on the fence too so that gave clear views.

Thanks for the video. I love the detail in the photographs. Too often it is a “bird on a stick” after heavy pp. The new LrC features accentuate this with image blur. To me there is nothing like having some context of habit. Well done.

what was with the other people on the path , nice take off shot but in my humble opinion it needed more shutter speed and possibly f/8. I appreciate you were already at ISO 3200 but with denoise sw you could be shooting at ISO 12K or even higher
@PaulMiguelPhotography
@PaulMiguelPhotography 10 ай бұрын
There were a few photographers there as well as me. I agree - I wished I'd pushed the ISO higher now, but it is difficult when you're vlogging. I still like the sense of movement - it would be nice to try a panning shot next time for more blur too.
