Some of the most captivating wildlife images you will see are those that are captured on the level of the subject. This creates an intimate image with those beautiful blurred backgrounds we often strive to achieve.
Join me as I wonder through an ancient Birch woodland on the edge of the East Anglian Fens and discover a hidden lake.
If you liked the video then please give it a thumbs up and leave a comment. I always reply to them all, plus subscribe and help my channel grow. Thanks..

Good vlog again Simon. Nothing I enjoy more than local reserves and parks to get images of birds. It's not all about exotic creatures and crested Grebes make for beautiful images, especially the mating ritual. Looking forward to the one. Top man.

Nice vid with good tips! Getting low as possible for a shot is not always possible when using a tripod with gimbal. My preferred technique is using a beanbag. This makes it possible to photograph on water level. Keep in the good work, you have a new subscriber :-)

@@SimonWantling I think it's best to always have a beanbag withing reach. But the amound of gear taken on a trip is already comprehensive. So I defenitly need a bigger backpack and a stronger body:-)

I use DXO Photolab2 and Affinity photo for my PP, I do the majority of my PP with DXO, removing objects from the water or anywhere elese is a breeze with DXO, then I use Affinity Photo "Photoshop alternative with no yearly fees" to finish off my PP. The time I save compared to Lightroom and Photoshop is priceless.

Hi Simon Just came across your channel via your Twitter account. Have to say compared with a lot out there your format and style is really very good indeed, and extremely helpful. I know your a Canon man but I’m slightly torn in going the Sony Mirrorless route just wondered your thoughts. Either that or buy the proverbial 7d2 and 100-400 2 which seems to be popular. Keep up the good work Kind regards Clay Jones

@@claytonjones5857 Hi Clayton. Thanks for finding the channel and your comments. I'm really glad you like it. I'm really busy with other photography project so have not uploaded a video in a few weeks but will do so soon. Thanks for your question and in all honesty if I wasn't so commited to Canon in terms of investment then I would also consider Sony mirrorless cameras such as the A9. It's definitely the way to go. Canon will bring out pro body mirrorless at some point but certainly Sony I feel lead the way in that area especially as Sony have also released as big glass in their portfolio.

Hello🦉🙋‍♀️🌳🌲 I have just this second, come across your channel and I'm blown away. This video is not the one I just watched in full or the one I'd like to speak about, however, it is your most recent. So I'm leaving my comment here in the hope you may pick it up! I realise it may go into your spam folder because my forthcoming waffle is lengthy and I do apologise in advance, but I'm so thrilled to have found you that I will likely now appear to suffer from 'word vomit'! Do you have an email address please where I could ask you a couple of questions? From the video I just sat and watched (sidenote - totally enthralled & mesmerised) I would be beyond grateful to receive your opinion about a subject SO close to my heart and that is...Owls!🦉Specifically Little & Tawny. I have just bought a house in the countryside after living the city life for the last 100 years it feels like! On the 1st night in my new home this past mid-summer, I climbed into bed and lay there wide awake thinking to myself how blessed I'd be if I could hear my favourite bird calling. I've been in love with owls since I was a child living in a farmhouse in a rural location, where I had the luxury of hearing and seeing many owls🦉My father would explain how owls lived in the wild and we would frequently sight our local Barn Owl at dusk, flying around and swooping down to catch his/her supper, returning to the sky with a tasty little mouse in his claws! After only ten minutes or so in my new home, I heard that familiar & unmistakable hoot of a male Tawny, followed by the 'koo-wick' of his potential mate, whom I like to visualise, sat on a branch applying her lipstick and spraying herself with Chanel no.5 in preparation 🤣🦉 As you can imagine, I was thrilled! I also heard a lot of chatter, from what I have since learned to be the Little Owl. And it wasn't even too far from my bedroom window either! I may read to you (if you've been able to gratefully make it to the end of this spiel) as a batty, eccentric woman with an obsession of owls! I'm really not, at least the eccentric part, but the obsession could be correct! If I could email you, I would be extremely grateful, because from just watching your previous video on owls living near a golf course, you're very busy! I didn't catch what area in the UK you're from, I'm in Norfolk. I just have a couple-or-three Owl related questions. My email is ginnyatchison@gmail.com. Funnily enough while finishing this I've just heard a Tawny hoot from the tree's at the bottom of the garden! Best wishes, Ginny 🦉
