We spent two days of bird photography, mostly focusing on gannets and puffins at the Raudinupur Cape in north Iceland. It was windy and the distance was great from us to the gannets but it turned out to be more fun than the conditions indicated. We had a great time and the conditions really got better. Enjoying being out in nature surrounded by puffins was a great experience.

Thank you Jeroen. We are trying to create videos that reflect on what we are doing and how it is to be there. We aim to get better at it. This was a wonderful day even though the video seems to be a bit windy.

It's the first time I've seen you two on KZfaq. You both work well together. Really enjoyed it. Loved the puffens. 👍 I did noticed that you both had you lens hood on during the first day. I take my off when it's windy because I struggle to get clear images.

Very nice video. I was wondering how you mounted your Saramonic microphone to your camera. I would like to have a similar setup but was trying to figure out how to mount an XLR mic to the camera. Can you explain? Thank you.

A nice video. Iceland is a fantastic country of birds. Unfortunately, I have not been to Iceland. But in the Faroe Islands. Certainly without comparison. You have 500 f/4 and 300 f/2.8. How does the 300 f/2.8 with 2x convurder compare to the 500 f/4 ? I have thought a lot about the 300f/2.8 (100-300 f/2.8) because I can use it for a lot other than birds. But I know 300 mm is too little for birds in many situations. So 1.4 or 2x possible crop on camera is necessary in certain situations. Thanks for the good video.😊

The 300 f2.8 VRII lens with a 2x tele is just as good as the 500 f4 in most situations. The 2x tele was released by Nikon the same day as the lens - so it is a good combo.

We live in totally different climates, but we have similar birds. In Hawaii, we have Red-Footed Boobies, very closely related to your Gannets. Unfortunately for people (but good for the birds) they live in a highly inaccessible area on the farthest peninsula of a U.S. Marine Corps Base. What better way to be protected? I see them flying along the coast, but have never been able to see their colony.

Ever thought of contacting the Base Commander .. to get permission to take pics of the Birds .. Worse they can say is no or best they they can say is Yes ... If you don't ask you'll never know the answer
