The same excitement as 1 year ago with the x120 and here I am still waiting for it and they have already launched new cameras. 😢

You might have missed it, but there's been a huge fallout between Birddog and their manufacturer, Bowlin. So cameras that were announced last spring, by the time summer came, there was no contract to manufacture them. They had to find a new manufacturer and basically start over from scratch. And th then Bowlin countersued. So neither party was able to openly talk about the lawsuit in progress. Moreover, one of the big complaints about bird dog was that they would announce things before they were shipping, which they did not do, so they didn't talk about this camera until manufacturing was well underway and shipments are in progress. This was them listening to disgruntled customers who would make decisions based on announcements long before shipments were in progress. So they did not announce anything for nearly nine months because they listened to customers who said "don't announce anything until it's ready to ship."

When will the StreamingMedia review of the X1 be available? Very interested in the tracking performance versus the TailAr. I hope the tracking is native to the camera and does not require software running in the background. Very little info in their documentation on tracking.

Tracking is in the camera. Review was done before NAB, but then the entire editorial team was at NAB so it should be up soon.

Hey Anthony, do you recommend the obsbot tail air or Birddog x1 for easy remote locations?

These are very different tools, and recommending between a hammer or pliers depends on whether I need to drive a nail, or tighten a bolt. The NEED determines the tool. Do you need battery power, and can place the camera very close? Obsbot. Do you need a good, long optical zoom? Birddog. The need defines the tool.

I am working with 100-200ft and 50-75ft. I love birddogs but the Obsbot is a better price point. Any thoughts on that? Thanks

@@kkuholski23 Yes the Obsbot has abetter price because it doesn't have an optical zoom. For 100 feet I really think an optical zoom will be needed, unless all you want is a wide shot. The Birddog is retailing for $1000. bhpho.to/4boVnI7 The Tail Air is $500 - bhpho.to/3QC4TzF but if you need NDI, it requires an additional license activation per camera for $100. US prices, as of April 22, 2024.
