The Grey Heron / Gråhäger is our only resident heron species . It's quite widespread both inland and by the coast. It is a formidable predator that has a varied diet. It hunts by stealthily ambushing its prey, sometimes spending long periods of time patiently waiting for the prey to get closer before striking.
