The big issue with all this is my weather, tons of rain, high winds, thunder, and lightning. The loft has just been getting pounded, and I don't know how safe our two pigeons would feel. It has been a rough couple of days, and the birds have been a little spooked. They have been in the loft, and I am confident they will stay close and we could get them back in.

Don’t beat yourself up to bad Tom! That’s part of raising pigeons. Besides that the way you train and treat your birds they will probably be back in the loft by dinner time!! Stay positive it’s going to be a great season!

TOM, things happen. I'm sure you thought of it, but cheap screen door spring works wonders, have one on my loft door works great I go out and door closes and stays closed even when windy.

Shouldnt you wait till you have a group of pigeons to do this training. Repeating is too much and would wait till there is a group. Orrrr you could just use that thing as an avery. Yeah, as an Avery it would train them without even training them, lol.

Great point, the plan is to just work them up the tunnel until we get more birds. Last year we had birds flying to the loft by day six but they had other birds to follow.

Huh. Turns out Tom is mortal like the rest of us. 😉 ANYONE who has kept pigeons for any length of time has had similar mishaps. I sure have caused plenty over my years with birds 🙄😆 I’ll gladly send as many of my birds to Tom to handle as he’ll take for as many years as he’s up for it. He is THAT good.

For the record I offered to pay for shipping and the box on the replacement. Hopefully we won’t need it. These guys have been up the ramp six times, been here six days, last year we had birds flying to the loft by six days. They might still figure it out.

I’m that good myself I’ve been stopped making rookie mistakes, pigeon loft supposed to be secured at all times. Birds shouldn’t be able to escape the loft that was careless
