This birds nest fern was brought in by a customer concerned about the browning on the leaves. In this case, the fern looked to have been sunburned, as well as a bit of crown rot. Crown rot happens when the crown of the plant stays wet for too long.

I think mine has root rot. The outer leaves are turning yellow. Even though I have it in a decorative pot with rocks to elevate the nursery pot I just realized how much water it was sitting in.

Is there any chance to cure brown leaves or trim these to get rid of brown areas? Thank you for the video.

These plants grow in trees and don't require soil. I grow mine in spagnum moss and they thrive. Fertilize monthly.

Hello, excellent guide! I just got my very first asplenium nidus and it came in a soaking wet pot of packed soil. I tried my best to get the soil off, but a lot of roots came off with it. I potted it up in a mix of 70 % coco coir and 30% perlite, with some orchid bark at the bottom and top. I am a little bit worried for the roots, because they all looked brown, but I didn't smell any rot. Could they just be stained by the original soil? The fern is a lot bigger than I expected when I ordered it, and I will have to place it on the floor. However, I live in an old appartment with draughty floors. Will this be detrimental for my fern? Thank you!
