I got them all except the secondary dominants. I knew what the chords should be, but clearly I have not practiced those enough. Slow on the uptake. So now I know what to work on! (Along with a zillion other things.)

Nice score Dan! Yes secondary dominants can be tricky to implement off the cuff.

I enjoyed it. I got 13 correct, but I was doing something else. I'm working on my triads for the moment since I want to really have them mastered so I'm not worried about chord extensions nor sevenths....though I use them.

I never knew about secondary dominants. Weird to resolve between E G and C, unless you're playing blues rock or Boston. Every other chord is a flat something...😊

Yeah gotta love a secondary dominant as passing chords. I won’t go into it here as it may spoil the test for others, but method to the madness I promise! Maybe I should make a KZfaq video explaining them for anyone interested. 🎹🙌🏻

For 14 question I answered as E sus4 7 9. I was wrong about 9, you said that is E min11, but my question is: - How did you determine the third as minor instead major?

Hi, if it wasn't for the G at the top of the chord an Esus4 7 would make sense. However here the G is from the Em triad (the minor 3rd from the E determines its minor) which has been moved up an octave. The 5th has also been omitted in this voicing. It's certainly a tricky one.

I got the first one. No idea what 7ths, augmented or diminished are. #9-16 was Chinese to me. Been playing for 2 months. Talk like that is confusing. I watched some chord lessons and the first 3 were fine but the incessant jabbering of the instructor made it so that I could not listen to her, watch what she was doing and listening to the constant jackhammering of words made me turn off my keyboard, walk away and close the tab with the lesson.

Hi Gale, if you’ve only been playing for 2 months then what you scored is to be expected. The test difficulty moves up quickly so the later questions would be more favourable for advanced players. With the right teacher/lessons/tutorials though it would all make sense.

Oh, how I remember how that feels. I can only say that there are videos I stopped three or four years ago with a look on my face like a pterodactyl with a secret sorrow, that today make me think, this is much too simple, come on, give me some challenge. And let me say further that Mr. Bird is far more comprehensible to beginners than many of the YT piano channels. Take this video as a test of where you are today. Come back to it in a year. I bet you will be pleasantly surprised.

It isn't that hard after a while. You have to remember that most keyboard players have been playing a lot longer than other musicians.
