Very sad at the turn of events. I was sort of anticipating this kind of an ending, the moment I observed that you had cut two branches around the nest, to get a better camera view soon after the first egg hatched. The nest needed those two branches very much, to offer a cover to the nest, and to dissuade big birds from predating the nest. I believe the chicks would have quite well fledged, had those two branches not been cut. Also sir, my suggestion here (it may be foolish of me to do so, as you are well aware of the way of the birds, but I feel I will let you know anyway). I observed a lot of interventions with the camera, during the incubation and post hatching. The mother bird clearly seemed distressed at many a time. Also, please enable Aeroplane mode, if you have to shoot using your mobile. Trust my observations would be taken in the right spirit. Namaskara sir.

No sir, I have never cut a branch or cut a leaf. It confuses you with the location of the camera. The bird has already chosen the location where the branches are cut. You can find it at the beginning of the video. I only video for 15 to 30 minutes a day. And not every day. The crow had been following the nest since the egg stage. Our family members protected the nest three times.I alwase shoot with airplane mode, may be I forget sometimes, sorry for that. Thank you for watching, your kindness and respectful advice. Reply these questions if you have time ! 1. Do the same sparrows reuse the same cardboard box for the next season also ? 2. If they reuse same cardboard box, do you clean it from the inside and remove the nest from the box before the next season ?

1, May be, but it is difficult to identify sparrow pairs. 2. Once the couple has finished breeding, the other couple will occupy the nest box. Sometimes many couples quarrel for that nest box. Because it is so well built. So do nothing and leave it as it is. New couples do the cleaning and modifications.
