Written by Luke Byrne and Cairns elder Gudju Gudju, Birinyi draws inspiration from a Yidinji song which describes devilish stingrays swarming underneath the surface of the water.
Performed as part of Songs of my Country at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall by Gondwana Indigenous Choir, conducted by Lyn Williams.

Instantly brought me to tears of joy. Thankyou. Then..When i realised the story.. mind blown. I have snorkled as the fiddler rays danced at broken head nsw and been invited to join. So many broke from their spiral and tickled me with gentle flicks of their wing tips before rejoining the column. It was an experience that I have found difficulty to describe in its wonder and beauty. Now this song!!^^ perfect.
