Hello Keith, Believe when I tell you. I have tried absolutely everything I could with these guys..feeding less flying more resulted in flying lower and tighter on one wing..feeding higher protein and flying less..resulted in flying higher longer and wider circles on one wing..floating/gliding on one wing..after several months of dealing with this.. I was to the breaking point. Some thing drastic was going to happen. So I said 1 mile it is..You will go to the left to find home or you will be gone. As you can see in the videos..they went left right out the box most of the time.. Is it a one time attemp and all is well?? No. I had to give it a few weeks break as I was focusing on my comp team. Now that's behind me.. I've flown them a week now straight with no tosses. They come out and hang on that right wing for 3/4 of the fly with a few fakes to the left..then finish up with some full left turns the final 1/4. I'm off to the convention this weekend. So it will be the following weekend before I can take them down the road again. Currently I have taken them off wheat and milo mix and moved them onto 15% mix no corn straight. Feeding a little heavier in the amount. Weather getting cooler should also help?? Hopefully they will just snap out of it..

Here in the city of LA. The birds can't fly too low because of the power lines, two story houses, trees, and other tall structures.

I'm reluctant to release young birds too far away from home here, because on some blocks the houses look the same. But I guess there are certain details the birds can view from the air that we don't see from the ground.

Thank you Smoke's, The big time con is this type fly pattern puts a stop to proper performance. They do not roll as often or together as they should. Drives me crazy watching this bad habit.

Hello Tony, I will try to find some. I haven't seen white wheat sold locally. Hard Red from up north occasionally. Primarily at our feed stores they sell soft feed wheat.

I'm trying to break what has become a bad habit with most of my this years youngsters. They want to ride the right wing..All of my older birds do fly both on a figure 8 pattern. I'm slowly getting some where with them. Thanks for your question!

Hello Kerby, My theory of why they fly on one wing is.. They are running from the roll. They are smart and figure out early on while flying low in landing mold (short tight circles over the loft) that this stops the stimulation to roll. So as they get older this is how they control the roll..Now this is just my thoughts Kerby..Nothing in concrete yet.

So me taking them down the road gets them out of their safe zone and have to go left to get home. So far I've had good success doing this..

@@Customkev That makes sense and I think you're right: when they fly constantly on one wing, that's a resistance mechanism. A lot of hawk-pestered kits seem to develop this bad habit for self preservation.
