Im a black country lad and when I went to Uni I got a bit of a scolding for using "wench" as though it was derogatory. I never knew it to be anything other than an endearing term 😅.

I love this. I'm a Brummy but I love the black country accent. Please do some more and get them out. Maybe some full conversations and then the translations would be great. You guys are ace. 👍

Excellent. Real people from the area... I mean; they KNOW! We had friends in Erdington, now sadly passed on, but they always said 'ta-ra' and that's not in the Black Country is it? I'm from the Somerset/Dorset border and if I spoke in the dialect you would struggle to understand it! Great work girls, please do keep it up.

That black county accent is so mad. It sounds nothing like wigan In terms of accent but uses the same words and says them similar. Some of us say phone the exact same way, We use wench, we don’t always pronounce the H so horse is orse and we say babbi insta if baby but we sound totally different i actually reckon I could understand Black Country people crystal clear

As a Black Country chap I can visit certain areas of the Black Country and cannot understand a single word they say…. I’m West Bromwich born but if I went to Netherton or Sedgley in Dudley the accent would be so broad that I wouldn’t understand it There are two distinct dialect differences in the West Midlands conurbation Brummie and Black Country but no physical boundary … You could travel from Quinton in Brum a couple of mile into Oldbury and the dialect would be totally different

@@Durgesuth More than just two, the dialect in Walsall is different to Dudley and different to Brum.

@@jsmcortina The Accent can change a little depending where in the Black Country you are, and the Dialect slightly. But most people in the Black Country should be able to understand each other. But have a 3 way conversation with 2 different areas of the Black Country and someone not from the West Midlands then YES they could be confused and even detect the differences quite well... well not.. as in they just get totally confused

Some Black Country may sound a little like some of the words that Wigan and a few other Northern places use, including like parts of Yorkshire... I guess

@@davebear9825each town you pass through will say the odd few words different from the last. and a bilston/wednesbury/tipton accent sounds very different to quarry bank/cradley accent although the latter and a lot of eastern dudley borough seems to have been influenced more by the brummie accent over the years

That is quite a mild Birmingham accent isn't it? I remember it as being much sharper but that was back in the 70's but maybe it is just my memory that is mistaken.
