The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny is made at one of India’s oldest automotive plants in Gurugram Haryana. More than 38 robots, 177 vendors and hundreds of workers are used on Maruti Suzuki’s most sophisticated production line. It is only the second place in the world where Suzuki makes the Jimny and the only place where the five-door version is made. car&bike got special access to witness the making of this iconic SUV

Exactly they are trying this strategy now a days, even the discounts are not working. Suzuki India MD was too optimistic for this price called it as a niche segment. With 30k booking initially before even the price was revealed gave them guts to launch Jimny with such exorbitant prices. Latest news is last it sold only 1800 something units. Now some one should ask MD why are they don't this cheap marketing and discounts. Unless they bring it's price down it won't sell. I too was a big fan of Jimny booked it but also cancelled it.

It was owned by the Indian government named Maruti then sold to Suzuki by Congress government

Maruti is a Japanese company. An example of India and Japans long lasting partnership from the start of SC Bose who was ready with the Japanese to free India if Gandhi failed in 1947.
