Love this place, lived there for 12 years (2001-2013) and loved every minute of it. Best years of my life. Fabulous, friendly people, great pace of life, made so many good friends, and many of the places shown still exist. Oh to turn the clock back.

Love my home town with a passion. Brilliant place to grow up in and loads of lovely people. Such a shame to see it now. Some great memories.

Smashing memories! I remember hot bacon butties in Geralds Cabin in the marketplace. I left Bishop in 1978 and sadly never returned, but it holds such a special place in my heart.

In the 1960s and 70s Bishop had such a good high street sad now. There were individual shops as I grew up I loved Holdens at the top of Newgate Street. Would have hoped that Kynren would have helped bring some better shops and cafe's.. I opened the Georgian Window gift shop in Durham in 1981 but I grew up in Bishop Auckland

Bishop Auckland - '(H)owie (H)unnie get on the bus' coming from Cumbria this dialect was quite alien then ppl would put H's on where they shouldnt be: like phone the Hoperator and you need Heggs to make an ommelette, weird :-\
