Stuart Bell is a fresh new bishop in Gafcon from Wales. He was one of the bright lights in the Church in Wales, running a lively evangelical parish that certainly dragged down the average age in the Church in Wales. His leaving will leave a big gap. He tells us why he left and the reaction that got.

I pray for this man and all clergy to defer to Scripture in leading the faithful. I am Catholic and I see how this tension will send a message to the Catholic hierarchy to choose Christ in Scripture, rather than the worldly view of how Church should look. Sin shall never be blessed.

Well. The entire earth constantly prays for an awakening. And given the importance of such a request, God will answer, But the awakening Comes only by the word of restoration. The jews were expecting an awakening but according to their taste.

Surely this guy should be pleased Christians are in fellowship in any evangelical church, not exclusively narrow Anglicanism?

I am glad that there are still Anglican clergy in wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 that are not afraid of true Christianity, I had to leave the church and there’s no evangelical leaders in the C in W in my own locality and subsequently I’ve found myself in a Pentecostal church

Why does Dominic keep addressing the prelates by their first name, instead of "bishop" or "your grace"? Is he close friends with all of them, or what. Sorry, but he should show a little more public deference on camera for their office, whether he's friends with them or not.

In general Anglican churches (whether part of the Anglican Communion or not) recognise as fellow Christians those people who are members of churches which subscribe to the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity (i.e. belief in one God who is three coeternal and coequal persons). Sadly the Mormon church (Church of Jesus Christ LDS) does not subscribe to this doctrine so cannot be regarded as a Trinitarian Christian denomination.

Not bothered how the Church in Wales changed heterosexual marriage by adopting divorce and remarriage twenty years ago.

That is what you get when there is no ultimate arbiter of Biblical interpretation. Open for all interpretation will always end up in schism, although Anglicanism was born out of divorce, it is practically same to all other Protestant sects.

@@Apriluser What is not fact about that? King Henry VIII was the founder of your religion, when he was not allowed by pope a divorce, he declared himself as the head of the Church in England that later on became Church of England to what is now Anglicanism. Easy as 1, 2, 3...simple history that you can find even in most simple text book.

@@jboycaceres2871 An interesting comment. What Henry the 8th actually did was latch on to elements of the Reform movement which had been under way for many years. Initially he was against Luther's document which argued against buying indulgences from the Pope. He even wrote a rebuttal underlining ' The Seven Sacraments' and was certainly Catholic in many of his worship practices. After the separation from Rome and his marriage to Ann Boleyn he still held his daily prayer service in Latin for example. He did bring into circulation the 'Great Bible' - a translation by Tyndale later revised by Coverdale which allowed those who could read to read the bible without the intermediary of a priest. However , when he died the country could be said to be leaning towards Reform , but still more Catholic in practice. The Anglican church has always been a mixture of the two with other church movements being fostered in it or absorbed by it. Even a King like Henry could not have imposed such a huge church change in England if the time hadn't been ripe and the Reform movements well under way. Unfortunately many books on history only give the bare bones of the story - the cancellation of the Pope's jurisdiction in England, Henry's marriage, his proclamation as Head of the Church . Study of the documents of the time including Henry and Ann's Book of Hours , Henry's scroll and the work of Historians at places such as the British Museum reveal a clearer picture of how the Anglican Church was established and the context. King Henry's desire for a divorce just made things move quicker , but it really wasn't a 1 2 3 situation .

@@Tenortalker In short and to summarize your article, he was an opportunist and sexual deviant who led his people astray and to almost damnation today. He separated from Rome, and from a Catholic point of view, his Church's sacraments are invalid.

And your “ultimate arbiter” wants priestesses and “radical inclusivity”. Btw Henry was a committed Roman Catholic to his dying breath, and he wanted an annulment, not a divorce. He also wasn’t the founder of the Anglican Church.

It is the Church in Wales and not the Church of Wales because the Welsh church was disestablished in 1920 by the Welsh wizard David Lloyd Thomas that has enabled the Church in Wales to hold Services in English and Welsh like the Welsh Chapels and the Bishops do not sit in the House of Lords only the Arch Bishop when he is invited to speak for Wales and therefore the Church in Wales has faired better than the Church of England because it can hold services in the language of the people

I was baptized and married in the Church of Wales. I think I can see tax collectors and prostitutes entering the kingdom of God ahead of us but I'm still hopeful there will be room for liberals and evangelicals. Are we wearing wedding garments or disrespecting our host? It's not my place to turn his guests away.

Surely the fundamental spirit of scripture (certainly the new testament) is focussed on Christ the Saviour of society's outcasts as much as righteous insiders and so-called 'orthodox' religious people. Love is not aligned with sexism(patriachy), racism, and homophobia...these attitudes are not aligned with Christ's ministry and message. Christ was an includer ..not the opposite. Dividing the Anglican Community...is that helpful? Why even mention Church unity when you only see yourself as saved ?

You might have had a point, but the reality is it was the sinners who left their sins to follow Jesus Christ, not Jesus Christ affirming sinners to continue in their preferred sin. The con-game being played by the liberal revisionist voices under the guise of tolerance, inclusion, diversity, etc., is really a manipulative expectation to condone sinful conduct. Apostate and heretics are always identified by their obsessions with three things: 1. Power 2. Money 3. Sex Considering the facts that the so many of the liberal bishops are associated with: 1. Corrupt power, more concerned with pleasing a liberal secular government. 2. Worried about their future money (when 80% of the laity no longer follows these wolves in sheeps clothing the paychecks and pensions dry up fast.) 3. Are majority identified as affirming sexual practices which Scripture has condemned since the Book of Genesis. The time for true Christians to leave and form a new Church is way overdue.

The fundamental spirit of scripture is that God loved the world like this: He gave his only Son (Jesus), so that whoever puts their faith and trust in Him will not condemn themselves to eternal separation from God, but will inherit eternal life in God’s kingdom. Welcoming outcasts etc is contingent on first being inheritors of the kingdom through faith in Jesus. And faith comes through believing the Word of God.
