@Billyfishing_watch2 жыл бұрын
No!!! I didn't leave it for you 😂🤣 that my fish, hands off buddy 🤬 The trigger on the rods is off an ABU grip lock. The only thing there worth any money is the rudder trigger. So I just pulled it off and pushed it over the original real seat on the sonik rods. A good trader is hard to find. century tackle make a sliding wheel seat with a trigger. It is the only good one out there. Thanks brother 👍😁

I'm new to your channel and really enjoying it 😊 I live in New Zealand and am going to try your South African rig next time I fish for Snapper off the South Island west coast beaches. Cheers, Ian
@Billyfishing_watch2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, It's the perfect rig for casting a big bait a long way. Hope it works for you, glad you like the channel. Thanks Brother 👍😁👌
@iangraham30182 жыл бұрын
@@Billyfishing_watch - question for you, do you think the rig would work as well without the hair? Reason for asking is for most of my surfcasting, I use a 6/0 J hook with a fixed 4/0 circle hook snelled above it (the cup of the circle hook sits level with the eye of the J hook). Most of my fish are hooked on the circle hook, so in many ways, the J hook is doing the same job as the hair. I don't often use baits as big as yours, usually crab for Smoothounds, prawn and pipi (clam) for Elephant Fish and pilchards for Snapper or Gurnard. All these baits are presented with the J hook in the bottom of the bait and the circle hook exposed about half way up. So, the J hook (instead of the hair) would be attached to the gemini bait clip for the cast. Just wondered what your thoughts were Billy....
@Billyfishing_watch2 жыл бұрын
First of all I have to say that's my tackle is developed from South African fishing. I have a rig that sounds like yours, but I cut the point of the off the j hook, I'll put a link in. Butbthe Dingle dangle that the South Africans use is perfect for what you need and you can use a dingle dangle or hair with j hooks as well. so follow links and it might give you some fresh ideas. 👍😊

Gotta ask Billy....have you tried building some buoyancy into your baits so you're fishing off the bottom..... think of the attraction that movement will create....to a cod it'll be like the warm welcoming lights of a McDonald's drive through... be excellent to fish one rod on the bottom and one "popped up" as a comparison...what say you Billy..?
@Billyfishing_watch2 жыл бұрын
Yes Rod, some times I fish one with float in it. But in that vid they did not get a fish so I cut that bit out👍

@@Billyfishing_watch Have you been to BC? And you don't sound Norwegian. You sound quite Irish, or maybe Newfie? Newfie is an affectionate term for Newfoundlanders. BC ling cod, despite their ferocious appearance, are excellent eating. Sometimes I think halibut is better, sometimes not. They're also a lot easier to catch than halibut. I've caught them while fishing and by diving with a spear gun. It's great talking to you, Billy.
