I remember when it hit Mtv around 1990...to this day this is still one of my favorite metal ballad song from the 80s and early 90s....His voice is unmatched...

The lead singer (Miljenko Matijevic) actually did the singing voice for Mark Wahlberg in the movie "Rockstar".

Thankyou for your reaction to Steelheart. Steelheart was my favorite "hair" band. They never got the recognition they deserved as they appeared at the end of that music era as the grunge/alternative scene was breaking on to the scene. And then the accident. Milli is now singing and touring again and still sounds great. He did to the singing in the movie you mentioned. Another fantastic song they did was She's Gone (which a lot of people have covered.) Also, their Unplugged Music is awesome.

He’s probably the greatest singer ever in my opinion also that high note he hits is a G5 which is almost impossible to reach even for a male singer and he still sings like this today

Their debut album with this song, “She’s Gone”, and “Can’t Stop Me Lovin’ You”, came out in 1990. In 1992 when touring for their second album, on Halloween night, while performing in Denver, a 1,000# lighting truss fell and struck Miljenko Matijević on the back of his head, slamming his face into the stage floor. It broke his nose, jaw, cheekbone (the hardest bone in the body) and gave him traumatic brain injury. That screeched their career to a halt. It took several years for Mili to recover. That’s why they kind of dropped off of the map and a lot of people never got to hear them. Mili and SteelHeart are touring yet today though and he still sounds great. I believe Miljenko Matijević is the best, purest Rock Vocalist ever. His notes are clean and pure all the way up and down the scale. This was long before the Pitch Correction and Auto Tune technology that they have today. The music industry needs to label any and all music that used Pitch Correction and Auto Tune the way they label “Explicit Lyrics”.

He is alive and actually walked away from it before going to the hospital, the band is still touring today, with a new line up. Of course Milli is still the frontman

The song was released in 1990. It's sad that the music producers couldn't wait to kill this kind of music. Many awesome bands came out at the end of the 80's and early 90's only to be replaced with the next new '' mediocre'' trend.
