I paid bitwarden... For shits and giggles. I didn't needed to take the premium just thought i should support. And that's something i dont do often cause of income restrictions. For a new user who wants to complete move to a password manager... I recommend formatting the phone , install the app and give the permitions asked. Then proceed to log your accounts (and change passwords if needed). That will help with 1) save all your important accounts and 2) sometimes when you save a password in the browser extention it isn't autocompleted or autorecommended by the app to autocomplete. But when you save it from the phone the password is stored with the "proper path" and then magic happens. Cheers. ( Support open projects)

How do I “format” my phone?
@TheExsi
@TheExsi 3 жыл бұрын
@@IronBlaze77 I mean factory reset or re install your rom , or actually format your phone from your custom recovery if any. That will ''force'' you to re log on your accounts
@IronBlaze77
@IronBlaze77 3 жыл бұрын
Gaius Marius I’m on an iOS device, so perhaps a factory reset to an iCloud backup is kind of what you’re referring to on iOS? Also, when using Bitwarden, the autofill password option doesn’t work if I don’t have Touch ID (or possibly a PIN) enabled. I feel as though being forced to enter my master password would be more secure, but in doing that autofilling doesn’t commence.
@TheExsi
@TheExsi 3 жыл бұрын
@@IronBlaze77 Oh..i have no experience in ios devices . In android you must make the bit warden your default autofill password and it actually prompts you i think...its been like 2 years now so i don`t remember exactly. But something similar maybe on ios like in settings. As far as security when you open the app bitwarden has the option to lock by masterpassword , fingerprint or a pin.Same happens to me when i auto complete,I get prompted. Finally imho for general use , after you encrypt you phone any more password protected apps are too much of a kill. If you take my phone if you can force your way throughout my encryption i think no app stands a chance. That said i have an antivirus for real time protections and for some scans when i download apps and i implement as much opsec i can. Sensitive apps like authy bitwarden have their own locksystem and can also been locked by antivirus and in most cases the system itself. Hope i helped.

I've got the paid version of bitwarden as well. First, because I love the project and would like to continue it, then because this is propably the only password manager with default Cloud synch in a useable free version, and I did really appreciate that. And last, because I got Yubikeys for more security - which you gotta have premium for. I also love that you could self host it, if you want. Not my cup of tee, but that's propably a solid middle ground between completely offline and completely trusting some companies servers. Also I'm not particularry a cheap ass, but I don't like to get ripped off. 10$ a Year for a secure, reliable, easy to use open source Password Manager - I'm 100% ok with that. On the other cloud PW Managers, the cheapest options are usually ~3$ a month. And that is IMO almost a Scam. Seriously, 3$ a Month for essentially cloud storing a file

EXCELLENT video Sir. One more thing about KeePassXC is that it supports browser integration. So, you can have it autofill your authentication information, as long as the DB is open on your local machine. LOVE that feature. Also, its supports TOTP.

New sub here. I used to use keepass a lot on air gapped systems when working. It was nice and would work on any flavor of OS I had. Login automation is fine but I also want to have custom forms to enter other privacy data that I want at my fingertips. I have used mSecure on my mobile device for that for years. I could look up passport, vehicle ViN, License plates etc. also I don’t want to rely on our horrible country internet for access to a cloud. So I need login credentials with me at our country home. Why a retired network engineer has terrible internet is another story altogether. Haha

Concise, very well documented and objective. 👍 I've used KeyPass for a while, but as soon as I came across Bitwarden (mind you, while really leaving RoboForm as my main password manager) the decision to transition to Bitwarden was really easy. Most account passwords get stolen when the service provider itself is hacked. For example, a freemail provider like Yahoo BILLIONS of account credentials hacked. On the other hand, some hackers get access to your data without using your credentials. For example, they might figure out a password for a database at a bank and read everyone's records. In both the former and latter cases, your password manager does not protect you from the results of those hacks. This is why I don't let companies store my credit card data, ESPECIALLY small companies that probably lack a dedicated security team with lots of experience, skills, and effective procedures to which they strongly adhere.
