Is this supposed to be more of a drama student thing? WTF don't I see in this music lol. Where do people start liking it? I'm very open, I'll listen to songs purely for them sparking a bad emotion or something. But this confuses me. I don't even understand her voice and all I hear is a vibrating beep noise from inside the faraday cage etc

@@-AAH- it’s really hard, in the beginning for me it was yuck, it made me ill when I listened to her music because it was so hard to digest, i think you need a retrospectively wide look on what you can really do with music, I started with listening to more easily digestible tracks of her, then slowly became enfolded and consumed by how creative she is and how she composed music, slowly you travel into the abyss that is her discography, I’m not really sure how I started to like this music, but I guess it’s what connects with the listener and man do I connect with this music, it’s beyond what I’ve ever heard, so human, so surreal, so visually psychedelic, and in reality at the same time..I just love her artistry 💀

For real! Near tears. For me Bjork, the dance of the lighting, the containment of it all and the echos of the live choir represent humanity at its worst and best: The feats and majesty within our own grasps of destructions all in one musical and technological tour de forcé!

@@-AAH- you might need to listen to some of her more… easily digestible songs. Try Pagan Poetry, Frosti or maybe Bachelorette. All of her different albums have very different feelings. I didn’t like her music immediately. It took time and finding the right song that hits and the right time, then I keep finding more and more things that I love, and it has expanded my idea of what music can be. It makes me a better musician.

@@-AAH- you are just a troll, replying to a lot of comments with the sole intention of invalidating someone else's art. the thing is that this specific someone is held in extremely high regard by her peers and her fans in terms of affection, admiration and respect, due to her rich and varied 4-decade-long career in music as a songwriter, composer, arranger, producer, singer and performer. go do something better with your time, Björk does not need you to understand her work.

I am beginning to think that Iceland is actually a section of another planet that came to live on Earth, and its artists were meant to show us new forms of aesthetic & entertainment that the average schmoe on the street will never be able to relate to. Long live original entities such as Bjork, Sigur Ros, and mum.

this has to be biophilia`s best song. so powerful, like a thundershock. I dunno if much of the lyrics are too obvious for most people but anyway I imagine she`s by the ocean(as she mentioned waves, wind irregularly striking and barnacles) and is really craving to be struck by a lightning(a dangerous gift sent from the hands of whoever (a god, an angel?) which would be a miracle by itself if she didn't die. but the real miracle would be to revive her wish of loving(because her romantic gene is dominant, and it hungers for union) I imagine another human being being hit by another lightning at the exact time as her so as to consolidate this union. It`s as if the lightning was her envisioning of a cupid's arrow. Or maybe she's craving to achieve something bigger with the shock. The eerie choir, the tesla, the irregular beat, all too mysterious to be about ordinary human love. Maybe her wish is to become a goddess? She already mentioned electric shocks in Possibly Maybe( "electric shocks, I love them, with you dozen a day, but after a while I wonder where is that love you promised me, where is it?"), and mentions joining a cult("who know what could happen, lottery or car crash, or join a cult?") so perhaps she is doing some magical ritual involving love and shocks. I know it is far-fetched, but I have nothing better to do right now lol.
@mattheusdbb311
@mattheusdbb311 8 жыл бұрын
+Gabriel Santos I've always personally thought that she sings "craving miracles" while referring to the low probability of one being stroke by a lightning. Even though she craves it hardly, it has small chances of happening.

@GabrielSantos-er3le
@GabrielSantos-er3le 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but why would she want to be struck by a lightining? that's the question. and what do romantic gene, romance, and hungering for union have to do with a lightning? how do you tie this together?
@mattheusdbb311
@mattheusdbb311 8 жыл бұрын
I think she's talking about something idealistic or quixotic when she sings that her "romantic gene" is dominant, not trying to evoke an erotic relationship, you know? It makes sense for me, since this union she is craving might be the intersection between nature and technology, one of the main themes in Biophilia. In her own words: "I’ve always had this romantic ideas about uniting different worlds, like uniting nature and techno. It doesn't necessarily have to be opposite." I guess she's using "thunder" and "lightning" as a metaphor for the strength she needs for such a task (lightning is, after all, one of the strongest forces in nature).
