My degree is in apparel design and merchandising....over the past I've worked a lot of retail. It's fun to watch how people shop and you're not the only one. It's interesting to see the shoppers wearing specific color then everything in their hands is within the same color family. People's minds are interesting. It's why I love merchandising. 😉

The sheer dress does look like 1940's. If the closure is on the side (seam) and it is a metal zipper or snaps then it most likely is. If a zipper, you can Google the brand stamp on the zipper to date it.

Route 66 was a brand carried by K-Mart. I don't know if the brand itself is still around or only commissioned through them. That Sandro Paris stripe skirt has major 90's Sonya Rykiel vibes, and that handmade cranberry colored blouse with the shoulder flange and waist yoke is lovely!

I believe Plain Jane was a codesigner with susie tompkins of esprit. More 70s than 50s.

Look at what you almost missed not actually going through the dress section. Because you hit it hard once you did. That coat was worth the $30+ and it probably got you spending more money than you were expecting to but it well worth it. I got totally sucked into the mystery of Wednesday series and I love that they had Christina Ricci (Wednesday 1991/1993) but it seems that there may be a season 2 and of course she won't be in that one.
