I have been blasting this since I first heard it 5 days ago. it has a primal call to that inner warrior that you cannot explain. it transforms you, as I consider it a chant to Fight, to return to that that is basic and Primal. Love it.

Always nice to hear music like this as I'm 100% Norse descendent we have many items that have stayed in the family for over 1000 years .. I appreciate ppl who take the time to learn about Norse culture, religion , and much more .. All though I don't practice many of the things my ancestors did .. That's amazing that you have heirlooms that old, may I ask what kind of items? And do you still live in the same place as your forebears? As for the "old gods", 1000 years ago your ancestors worshiped Christ the King.

@@marcoeire44 no they didnt, most Northmen refused and even killed Christian priest, there are only a few famous Northmen that i can think of off the top of my head that converted over to being Christian, the most two famous being Rollo Lothbrok and Ragnar lothbrok, the other one was Ubbe the Brother of Ivar the Boneless, Histvierg, and Bjorn Ironside, Ubbe and his wife Torvi converted so that him his wife, Bjorn, Lagatha and Ubbe could stay in Old England. and the official records of the LAST Viking raid was 1066 and the lasting Viking was King Haraldr and he died on Stamford Bridge at the Battle for Stamford Bridge.

Wow! I just discovered this genre of music. As a middle eastern with no clue about Scandinavian folk music and of course no Germanic roots, it's interesting that Im so amazed by this kind of music. Heilung was the first band I heard in this genre, but now im discovering even better bands. This music is so mesmerizing, spritual and deep!

I've been to Valhal, was a Viking themed restaurant in Tivoli in Copenhagen. Shields and spears and hides on the walls, wooden tables and benches. Felt like 1000 A.D.

Psychological warfare was much more of a thing back then than now. I know the Vikings did not fight naked, but imagine a forlorn hope of naked Celts or Germans, covered in red or blue or black paint, blowing horns and screaming and yelling in a frenzy coming towards you, I can't imagine the psychological shock of that.

Im American (Californian) my father's heritage is from Randers kopenhaven back 200 years ago but Norse stayed alongside one another as they homesteaded across the most inhospitable cold new land with hostile natives! They landed in Nez perce territories idaho wasnt even part of America yet!! So my ancestors come from modern day Iran (Persia) , eventually migrated into the borders of Afghanistan/Pakistan. I am of a warrior tribe and my ancestors fought on the battlefield wielding shield and sword. I heard a snippet of this song randomly on IG somewhere and had to find it, I’m glad I did. The moment I heard this song it just brought out some sort of remembrance of them fighting on the battlefield so I could be here. I’d like to believe the Vikings shared a similar respect and honor for their people. The Vikings were intelligent warriors. I absolutely love learning about them and their culture. This warrior drum is so powerful. PS can anyone tell me what the chanting translates to in English?
