On April 18, Neha Hiremath, 23, was stabbed to death at her college in Hubballi by her former classmate, Fayaz Khandunayak. About two weeks later, the murder case has purportedly become the poll plank of Dharwad BJP MP Pralhad Joshi, who is facing pushback due to anti-incumbency and resentment among the dominant Lingayat community.
The News Minute's Shabbir Ahmed and Samrah Attar hit the ground and spoke to Fakireshwar Mutt's seer, Dingaleshwar Swami, who initially stood against Joshi but later withdrew his nomination. They also spoke to Neha’s father and local students about the murder case making its way to the BJP campaign and the “love jihad” narrative.

Yesterday a 13 year old dalit girl burnt to death in UP. You cannot expect political parties to sympathise or condemn this horrific incident.No political leader especially of a party which is self appreciating itself as saviour of women and SC,ST,BCs will visit and console the victim's family. Will Godi media ask Modi or BJP leaders about safety of women in UP (double engine Govt). BJP leaders visited victim's house in Karnataka last week.

There has to be victims of parents meeting were they discuss about women safety to prevent political propaganda. I hope the investigation is conducted fairly away from political influence. It is possible that the victims family can put a case of right to privacy. The guy who was defining love jihad and says about the seriousness of the situation was self contradicting. Pralad joshi is a joker politician and trusts no one takes him seriously in karnataka.. His main goal is to take the position of ananth kumar as a mp. I doubt whether he would be elected without talking the issues such as hindu muslim, cow jihad and lingayat foul play.
