I am a mother of three; just doing my best to raise Godly children and find joy doing it. I am not a troll, however, when you say "skip these pages" because it's totally untrue, your telling me not formulate my own opinion and trust yours. Never should someone say, don't read it for yourself, just trust me. In fact that's worrisome. Whether or not you are correct, we all need to come to our own conclusions. What you say is appalling I might find truth and vice versa. But I do appreciate and value your opinion and I appreciate the time you took to create this video.

Thank you for your perspective. It’s hard to know how my words will come across when I post stuff. You are right, I completely agree. As a general rule, one should always take everything someone says as an opinion until further personal confirmations are had. I will however, respectfully not apologize for my strong opinions of how this particular faith was portrayed by BJU. Thank you for pointing out that all opinions on all KZfaq channels are just that; opinions. And the unsaid standard should always be to decide for yourself what you want to believe and do.

I finally took the time to learn more about BJU a couple of weeks ago. It was not easy because their business model pushes you to work with a consultant. They don’t have placement tests. I even called them to clarify and all they did was point to scope and sequence. There are also no sample lessons to view. I concluded this curriculum was made for a classroom and it’s basically “private school at home”. It felt too schooly. I think if I used this it would frustrate me and discourage real homeschool 😕.

Yea! It is certainly a little more structured than other homeschooling methods. I learned about it from a consultant when I went to a convention a few years back. It’s definitely a style you have to feel good about to make it work in your home. 👍🏻

Thank you for your video, we are using this exact curriculum this new school year for my up coming 3rd grader. I am curious what was the misinformation on those pages? I am so about teaching the truth of history to our kids. We have to add and stretch any curriculum we use. Thank you

Thank you Shirley. BJU press is really a great publisher so I'm glad you're going for it this year. Just be open to how Joseph Smith and the Mormon's are portrayed on pages 194 and 195. It's inaccurate in every detail. Not to mention the REASON those of the faith moved west was because there was an extermination order given by the governor of Missouri and they were seeking religious freedom. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, (inaccurately nicknamed "The Mormons") teaches of Jesus Christ and following the commandments of God the Father. The last sentence on page 195, though 100% accurate, uses the context of the church to smear the name of these God Fearing, Christian people.

I have done it both ways. I like Manuel for the ideas but it really isn’t necessary.

If you have done upper levels of history, how did they handle things like slavery and just black history in general? Is it white washed, the general things you learn in school, or do they make in effort in telling the truth?

This book is targeted for 7-9 year olds. So it is a very gentle introduction.

@@FullPurposeAndHeart Thanks, but I had asked if you had any upper class children. Older children, maybe preteens or something that used higher grade history books.
