I wouldn’t shame them for not wanting a disabled child but this topic is honestly only for people with disabled children or have been pregnant with one. Even looking in on this type of situation doesn’t give you the real; it’s something you HAVE to experience to speak on.

I have autism but I'm low on the spectrum, so I'm happy for my parents more than myself cah im not physically and mentally fully dependent so they can have a good life knowing that I will actually be able to live my life. And I also have adhd and dyslexia but thank God it's also low on the spectrum.

God KNOWS who to give these battles to. As a Special Education teacher, WE teach this special population how to be adults in society. Some students are very low cognitively and yes it will take another person to care for him/her most of the times all their lives. Doesn’t mean you can’t do it

I was supposed to be severely disabled, to the point I would have needed 24 hour care. The doctors urged my mum to abort. I came out completely fine, I hold a degree and I’m about to be interviewed for a masters. Everyone has their individual choice to make on matters like that, but I will never trust these ‘disability scans’.

Watching Tara from the beginning and how she was silent and you actually can see the hurt on her face 😞 there was a lot on insensitivity here

This is a moral, conscience, cultural and ethical issue; and for some a religious issue. We all have individual autonomy and choice. We do not all think unilaterally. We are not monolithic. We are all distinct beings. My personal opinion is do what your conscience can live with. Interesting debate which mirrors society views. Everybody’s circumstances are different and we are often dynamic and views and opinions can change over time. It is difficult to say there is a right or wrong answer /response - human life is sacred to some and not to others; and mind you, humans do a lot of things that are questionable to fellow humans beings disability or not !

The mrs and I recently had our little girl, 3 4 months in we were told there was a 1 in 10 chance she’d have Down syndrome, we obviously didn’t sway. Month or 2 later we go for a second check and turns out it’s a 1 in 1000 chance and they made a mistake, she was born 2 months ago with absolutely no hint of Down syndrome or any disabilities whatsoever. Be careful.

people have to consider that there are different levels of disability. seeing children with very physically painful disability where you have to watch them in chronic pain, is the worse feeling ever. And this is not just a financial, or physical burden, its a huge psychological burden on the family. This differs from mild disabilities like ADHD, DSYLEXIA AND AUTISM where you can use cognitive therapies to manage them through out life and fully integrate into the society. Ultimately its a choice to have a baby with disability, but as Marc said it leads to a life of hardship, all round.

While Marc wasn’t sensitive not everything he said was wrong. People are quick to attack but if you try to break down his words around the rudeness which unfortunately is his nature, it’s making sense

What people need to understand, shit can hit the fan at anytime on this planet and what Castillo said is right in that not everyone has people around then to pick up the pieces.

I find it disturbing that everyone was asking about how they would feel bringing a disable child into this world and the struggles they personally would have to go through, no one ever talked about what the child would have to go through personally. No one talked about the challenges the child would have to face. No one talked about the fact that when a child is a baby and has the protection of his or her parents, that one day the child will have to face the already difficult world without the protection of his or her parent. I took care of disable adults for years, regardless of how much the parent loves that child, it is very very hard, I was blessed enough to have conversations with these disabled adults, and the things you’d hear them say would break your heart!! The act of having a child is selfish let’s be honest, a child doesn’t asked to be brought into the world, it is the parents that choose to bring a child into this world, so it is the parents duty to make sure that child has the best quality of life.

I’d like to add that down the line, anyone’s child could become disabled due to accidents, injuries, illnesses, or genetic etc. Disability is a part of being human, and almost everyone will experience some form of disability-whether it’s mentally, physically, or emotionally- at some point in their life. It is a part of life, and unexpected events are beyond our control. Therefore, it is rational to always be prepared for the unknown, whether we like it or not.

Realistically Marc is speaking facts, even tho its a sensitive topic he will say it w his chest.

You’ll be handed the lesson you need to learn. Some of them need to learn acceptance and empathy, otherwise they’ll be forced to learn it through the children they are given. Some of this was hard to watch.

I was so in touch with Lucas's opinions in this session. I think he's got alot of empathy & that's so cute 😍 disabilities can be inherited but is also circumstantial! What if u have an able child & they hv an accident, would u throw them away? For me the only thing I would be careful about is passing on sickle cell genes, but that doesn't mean if my child had another disability I would love them any less. Please let's not play God! It's a very sensitive topic...l don't think anyone, no matter who they are, is allowed to judge anybody over something they have no control over.
