I am so happy that you decided to join the tutorial world. I have many of your books but watching you do a project is so much better. You are a great teacher because you have an idea in your head of what you want to do and if something goes off-script you make the best of it which really helps beginners like myself that have tried to follow the instructions but something went wrong somewhere and frustration sets in and I feel like the whole project is worthless. Watching you, you just go with the flow and say well let's see what happens really helps. Thank you so much for your help with doing the videos. You have done amazing things with Polymer Clay. I can only hope to be a better clayer with your support and instructions. Keep up the good work

Hi Diane, so glad you're enjoying the tutes! Yes, I decided when I started this channel that I was not going to make everything perfect, that mistakes are opportunities, too! It's easy to think that every day is great for someone else but that's just not true for anyone, right? Keep watching, my friend and enjoy. Cheers, D

You really weren't that far off screen. I already see that the logistics part is improving for you. It is a huge learning curve, and you are doing marvelously! So please give yourself grace. We are here, learning from a Master, who is kind enough to share her skills and talents with us! That is amazing to me! Thank you for being willing to DO this!!

I’m also a KZfaqr and I can’t figure out how to do many things to enhance my videos. I’ve almost gotten to 500 subscribers! Now I’m more excited to make more of my own canes instead of buying them. Huge thanks! 😊

I saw someone working under their camera and they marked little X’s in the four corners as a guide to not drift beyond them or they would be off camera. Simply look through your camera and mark your work field . Hope that helps! I made this cane and it came out awesome! Thanks Donna!

Your new tutorials are fantastic! As far as working off camera, if you widen the field-of-vision and zoom out the lens on your camera to more of a wide angle, it will give you more room to work with. The wider angle will show more work surface. You can also raise the camera up, if you are using a tripod to show more work surface. Don't know if that helps you but wanted to share since I learn so much from you!

I am so glad you decided to get on KZfaq and even more glad I found your channel. I remember watching you on The Carol Duvall Show and becoming fascinated by polymer clay. I think I bought one of your books. After all these years I am finally going to get some clay and start. My question is since I don't have any clay, how much of the black and white would I use to make the cane? I love black and white so very excited for this series. Also wanted to tell you that my husband was listening to you as you were making the canes. He has to listen to a lot of the people I have been watching and he said I like her the best! Your teaching style is wonderful. You are taking us through your thought process. I have watched countless videos on polymer clay that the person is just chopping up clay and adding paint. I believe I have watched almost every single one of your videos and am learning technique and the why you do something. So thank you so much.

Hi KB! This is polymer clay. You cure it in the oven. This tutorial instructs how to make a cane. Think sushi - every slice off the block is the same. This tute is part of a series of black and white techniques that will end in several tutorials using them to make neck pieces. Check out the other two! The first starts with several necklaces I made. Cheers! D

I understand, Pam. Regarding this series, I’d say have two pkgs of white and of black. start with one pack of each and you might need to dip into the second. The canes aren’t huge. You should be alright, kid. 😊❤️

I don’t really see you go off screen, doesn’t affect the teaching at all! I do have a question! I’ve been making a lot of your black and white series canes, you seem to keep your white so pristine! How!?? And that’s a serious questions- so I have made sure to clean all equipment between black and white, I try to get all the black off of my hands, but it never fails, as I reduce my white turns gray! I can see it when I put the pieces together - ugh! I wear my shirts light, I just can’t imagine how yours are always still pure white as you reduce . Tips! ? Maybe you can do us a short” this is what I do” video?
