One of the lots of masterpieces in the NWOBHM movement. The best thing I love about most of these bands is that they have done a few recordings and split up, so there are not so much bands that changed styles and I can download every record I find in NWOBHM category, because I know I will love it. Long live real heavy metal culture :)

But why don't you buy these records? Nowadays there are so many rereleases, look at the cataloges of High Roller Records or No Remorse Records. Heavy Metal culture MUST BE supported in an effective and proper way!

Man i swear this early 80's heavy metal from bands like these that never made it big were some of the BIGGEST of the BADDEST heavy metal sounds of all times in my opinion & why this band ever changed their name from Black Axe is beyond me ....."Black Axe" is an AWESOME name & i LOVE this stuff !!!!!!!!

Just ssen lead singer Chris English in Burger King Carlisle. Top band, remember seeing them in Workington 1981.

Why did they change their name? Just curious is all. Nothing wrong with the name Wolf but Black Axe sounds way more bad-ass imo.

"It would be three years and the adoption of the Black Axe handle before the Cumbrian group would gain any kind of recognition thanks to the release of the Highway Rider single. The single not only enjoyed strong sales and a good deal of press interest from Sounds Magazine, but it led to a major recording contract with Chrysalis Records. However, in retrospect the Chrysalis deal struck a fatal blow to any possible success, the band being persuaded to take on a further name change to Wolf. " source : The Metal Archives
