Thank you for explaining that a 6th degree black belt requires more than 20 years of training - which includes international competitions - which you didn't mention but I suspect that is required - similar to reaching the highest levels in Chess - to become a world expert, a person is compared with other world experts - which would also include being a world expert in the history of our Earth, a world expert in dance choreography, a world expert in healing herbs, a world expert in garden design for edible ornamentals, a world famous operatic diva and so on.

Take all those belts and insert them with the time it took from your white belt until your first degree. Then it becomes even more impressive. It shows growth and also determination.

I was wondering if you became a Purple Belt in ATA and move to a different school that is ITF are you still a Purple Belt or do you have to start all over? 🤔🤔

It depends on the school, sometimes they might evaluate you and place maybe a little bit lower than purple belt. Other schools might start you over.

Is this art spiritual or can anyone do it without a spiritual aspect?

ITF Tae Kwon Do doesn't require spiritual stuff. When I tested for 1st degree black belt, I was more focused on the laws of physics, generating speed and proper targeting (velocity?) for my kicks (to do board breaks), than I was anything spiritual in nature.

So 1st degree to second degree black belt is 1 year or 2 years? If it’s 2 years it took a total of 3 years to be a 2nd degree black belt?

Black belt to first degree is 1 year, first degree to second degree is two years, and so forth. These are the minimum years required could always take longer. Thank you for watching.

@@masterschiele4265 black belt is 1st degree so not sure where your getting this one year timeframe from 🤷‍♂️. It took me 4 years from white belt to 1st Dan, then 2 years to 2nd Dan, 3 years to 3rd Dan etc

@@ninjascoob Thanks for your feedback. There are two ways it works. Some schools automatically start black belts as first degrees, while others start with Black Belt and earn the first degree black belt about a year later. I've trained through both systems. Thank you for your input.
