This video focuses on artistical moves.. However, in our dojo, we use techniques from traditional Jujutsu as well as pure self defense, boxing, ... to teach a very efficient style but also artistic/funny moves to fully enjoy of every aspects martial arts can offer. In other words, this video does NOT reflect the essence of our style. It focuses on the visually entertaining part.
These are of the 85 moves regrouping self defense and traditional JuJutsu techniques that were presented on the 25/11/2018 during the JuJutsu Black Belt demonstration (Shodan, 1°Dan). There are technical mistakes in different techniques: it is quite a challenge to do a 100% perfect exam under supervision of a jury
Some are traditional combo and pure artistic moves presented for the show (ex: the X parade or the flying flip scissor at the end that was created specifically for the exam) that would not be practiced outside the dojo, and are trained to develop physical abilities, balance, body coordination and move commitment (the idea of "going all in" ).
On the other hand, some effective techniques (such as the eye gouging entry) representing the most important part of any martial art, are also presented in the video but were not at all the focus of the clip, as explained.

Ironically Jujutsu was the martial art taught to Japanese police, but when Judo came about they held a tournament between the Jujutsu guys and the new Judo guys, and the JJ guys soundly got their asses handed to them and the police started learning Judo instead. There are some good legitimate techniques in here, but waaaay too much fluff, too many flashy impossible transitions that require a cooperative partner (ie it's dancing, not fighting), like at 0:56 the knee over the arm, this is a joke the uke can just pull and lift at that point and tori is off balance and going straight down, it only works because the uke let it happen.

@BigUriel
@BigUriel 3 ай бұрын
@@CJ1776 Don't know much about silat or kali but any martial art in which you learn techniques that you then practice in actual sparring can be useful. It's when you're learning stuff that looks good but you can never actually pull it off against someone who is resisting you that you're entering the realm of bullshido.

@@CJ1776 Any system that you see used in full contact combat has value, most of the popular names really, boxing obviously works very well, wrestling, judo, BJJ, muay thai, karate and even taekwondo if done right, kickboxing which is basically just boxing with karate, sambo which is basically kickboxing and judo...all these have strengths and weaknesses but they are all valid combat systems, because they are tried and tested in real fighting. Obviously modern MMA is a testing and proving ground for all these systems and they're all represented for that reason. Tai chi, aikido (the vast majority of schools), the vast majority of styles of kung fu taught nowadays, basically all civilian krav maga, it's all bullshido because there is no stress testing - people just practice technique drills and *assume* they will work in a real fight, without actually using them in a fight you can't know the techniques are effective, and even if they can be effective when used properly it's moot because no one will ever use a technique effectively in a fight if they've not practiced using it against someone who is fighting back. That was, fundamentally, the downfall of Jujutsu. There are too many techniques that look impressive but are actually ineffective, and many others that might in theory be effective but can not be practiced safely so you simply can't become proficient with them unless you have a stock of training partners willing to let you injure them for practice. When you take all of those out, and leave only the techniques that are effective AND can be practiced safely to he point of proficiency, you get judo.

its funny seeing people compare JJJ to Judo and Aikido like it's an advanced form of the latter two. It goes to show just how underground JJJ has become where we see this versatile and complete art broken apart and its individual components honed. Striking, grappling, submissions and wrestling, is that not MMA as we know it?

Jujutsu is a collection of concepts, with varying applicability but mostly it's about teaching you (the user) how the body works and how it can be manipulated in various ways. Some setups shown here are probably not very realistic applications of the concepts, but that is besides the point. Jujutsu is also an art form. If you want more realistic applications of jujutsu concepts, you should look more specifically into self defense, and preferably from someone with self defense experience and credentials.

@@alexandrete835 Great answer. Most arts that do belts test have a demonstration portion where you demonstrate your skill level and knowledge of each technique at whatever level you are testing for then as part of the same test go into a randori portion where sometimes its either rolling, sparring, or both. Just because you know can demonstrate all of these techniques doesn't mean that is what you would do in actual combat. I am a student of Professor Tony Maynard who is a Regional Director of Jujitsu America. We have strong ties to Danzan Ryu though our system is American Combat Ju-Jitsu which he created in the 1980's.

Maarten van Rossem I wouldn’t count on it mate. These guys don’t spar at all. It’s all choreographed against non-resisting partners. They know everything they’re partner is going to do. All they gotta do is memorise it. It’s useless for self defence or combat or anything these instructors promise. JJJ is one of the least respected martial arts out there. When do you ever see someone use JJJ in MMA? Never because it doesn’t work against a resisting opponent. I bet none of these guys have never been punched in the face. If your interested in learning Martial arts or any kind of combat sport make sure you find a place that competes and or does live sparing/rolling.

Judo and Aikido come from Jujutsu. Japanese Jujutsu is the parent of Aikido and Judo, it is a combat martial art for the Samurai. Very deadly and effective in real-life situations, takes yrs to master and most moves can be damaging and dangerous to learn because most involve reverse joint manipulation, bone breaks, throws, and death. Japanese Jujutsu is also heavily involved in weapons defense and offense including knives, staff, cane, guns, and chairs. Oss.
