My father was born in Angola where kids had no other black heroes other than Django and Jim Kelly. I was born in 1980 and my father did a great job by bringing me to watch this kind of movies. I absolutely love Jim Kelly and grew sad for not being able to ever have an afro. Jim Kelly made me wish it so strongly that I will never forget about him. Absolute icon in my universe.

Just asking, family. Did anyone watch the BET music awards and when they mentioned Master Kelly's passing, there was hardly a response from the audience? I was pissed! Master Kelly inspired all the black action stars who followed. Think about it...he was the first. RIP Master Kelly...we old schoolers will keep you in our hearts. The first martial arts movie I ever saw was this in a cinema in Pakistan . He had that big Lollywood treatment with a massive hand painted poster outside the cinema hall. I absolutely loved it !
