A great band I play with here in Dublin, Ireland. This video was recorded during the lockdown of March 2020.

Every musician in this is perfect … that back up singer lady - god she’s got the whole “melty background Steely Dan Sound.” Every one on perfect point. But (keyboard player here) … that old man on bass. Good Lord - man. He’s got that timing and anchoring everything. Focking respect man. You making that sound like it’s easy.

Thank you so much for the kind comments. From the “old man “ on bass!

The problem with Dan covers is very few can match Fagan’s voice or the production quality. They did a very good job of both

Paul Humprey's drumming is also hard to cover . Remember you are talking about the best session players in the buisness . Nonetheless the cover was pretty good.

Agreed. I might have liked a larger compliment of woodwinds in this arrangement. Would have filled out the coda. But, Yes! a good cover.

Nobody today is ever going to spend a million U.S. dollars on making a record. Imagine having the balls to go to ABC or MCA and tell them the session they just paid $50, 000 for is a wash-out and you're going to have to go back, jack, and do it again (see what I did there?).

I just saw KZfaq video of Leonid and Friends doing "My Old School" and commented my astonishment that anybody could ever do a cover of anything this good. I would not have bet in a million years that a couple of days later I would see a Steely Dan cover that is even BETTER. If I ever see a Steely Dan cover more perfect than this one, I will eat my hat.

We're a dying breed. Why? It's only the old folks who know how to play, not just that we demand perfection !!!!!!!!!! Also, we learn how to play " together " with each other with respect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't go see anyone locally if they are not older !!!

In 1977, Steely Dan's AJA album was studio magic, and from concept, to final production they coaxed, prodded, & squeezed: with finicky precision, some of the best performances out of the session musicians used on the project.

The sound was brilliant and the feel even better still, I think steely dan themselves would be proud of this composition and maybe even flattered at the quality of the rendition here, well done team.nice.

As an avid Dan Fan for over 50 years and also a musician/writer who has played their music, I love what you've done here. Steely Dan are no better than you when they're live. But this is more like a live recording, which I find more 'musical' and real. Well done, guys.
