definitely had less or different braking on the two drops when it was Golden Nugget; you can see on videos from that era how much faster the carts took those big curves below both big drops. Particularly fun because as GN, that first drop led to a 180 curve precariously dangled outside the ride enclosure.

This was a classic Hunt's Pier ride back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's in Wildwood. So much has changed since it was transported to Knoebels, but I like the way they renovated the ride in an effort to keep the Golden Nugget spirit alive.

Originally it was the Golden Nugget at Hunts Pier in Wildwood New Jersey many years ago. Then it sat vacant for years until the pier was reopened as Dinosaur Beach until that pier closed. Many childhood memories at Hunts Pier.

I am so glad I found this video. I used to ride this every summer when it was the Golden Nugget in Wildwood. Watching this, I could almost feel as though I was back riding it with my sister, laughing away, with my mom waiting for us outside. Begging to ride it one more time. Then heading over to the Keystone Kops. Good memories!

Good attempt at a Disney type theme ride. I like that it comes out of a gate at the side at the end. I remember my brother and I at the haunted house ride at Seaside Heights, NJ waiting in line by the gate where the ride ends trying to tell if people like the ride or not or shouting "How was it?"

The only thing that has ever bothered me with this park is the almost themed rides. There are so many places where with some more work you could really take it over the top. You could build this rides theme out with foam concrete and really make it feel like an underground coal mine. But it feels a little cheesy. The haunted house is the same way. As is the log flume. There is a certain slight lack to the theme and where it is heavy it sort of looks like kids did it. Knoebels has my heart for life. But they really need to work on their immersion.

This is somehow better than most of the dark rides at Dubai.

Nice long and interesting ride. Seems that no expense was spared with the displays. Blackpool. UK, had something similar but shorter and now re-adapted as a rather silly children's ride, Wallace and Grommet.

If you grew up learning about coal mines, this ride is scary as shit

So I am not personally a fan of roller coasters or many rides in general. My company had a family day at Knoebels and I wanted to enjoy myself. I looked at the rides they offered and decided this would be a good one (mind you I haven't been an amusement park since I was 11 and I'm 23) I went on it, loved it, however the last teeny tiny dip freaked me out so much I just about peed myself!

MY FAVORITE RIDE AT HUNTS PIER WAS THE GOLDEN NUGGET SHAFT RIDE AND IT KILLED ME TO SEE IT SIT ROTTING YEARS LATER ON THE SAME PIER. THIS RIDE HAD TO BE PATTERNED AFTER THE GOLDEN NUGGET.

We went on that when I was like 7 I hated anything fast or things that have drops and stuff and I still do my gram parents and my parents wanted to go on it and I didn't at all so when we were getting on they kept saying it was a cho cho ride (train ride) even the people who were controlling the ride I believed it than I had to go through all of it and came out crying but I still hate those rides

This is not powered trains is it? Can't see any way the train would drive itself along the track in a lot of places, impressive the way it maintains a consistent speed if it's not powered..... most of the track must be on a VERY gradual decline.

The lift tools and drops throughout the ride were pretty cool but the overall idea is really lame, not much to see... would have been better as they wanted house or Haunted Mansion type of ride with more things to see
