Here watching after Coach Staley just won the National Championship. She has something that most people don't have, what? Sure, she has that competitive drive, but what made her a Champion as a player, Olympic gold winner, and now a successful Collegiate Coach is..."the Eye of the Tiger". Meaning, she's relentless and ruthless on the Court and she brought that today winning that National Title, again!

That is true! But she also has a gift of being able to reach/relate to young adults as they are today. Kids have changed a lot since she began coaching and even since like before the pandemic. It is a different world and Coach Staley has changed with it....for the better of the game and the teams.

One of the gyms you see in Dawn is that she does not look like an intimidating person on the outside but she still brings the fire of a coach who is an is an imposing figure. And she has been able to have great success at the head coach. The difference between size and stature is seen in her.

I was blessed to work in behind camera positions at past Summer Olympics when Coach Staley played point guard for the USA. Coach Staley transforms into a fierce competitor when the ball gets in play. She has an strangely intense look in her eyes that does not waver and her body language becomes something difficult to fully comprehend. Coach Staley is a rare person.

It's beautiful to see many people still discovering and enjoying this discussion even years after it aired. Each participant's candid commentary about their journey was genuinely enlightening and inspiring. There was an abundance of wisdom shared in that room that was truly invaluable. I have always admired these individuals as players, but watching them become coaches has been even more fascinating. It's truly unique to see how they have grown and evolved into such great leaders and mentors.

All these ladies are great Black female coaches. It's so sad that being black causes folks to not see them. However, this is changing slowly, but for the better. Coach Staley has numbers that undeniably cause folks to see her. In seeing her too, we look at the other coaches who look like her and coach Peck. I am personally so proud of her, and love watching her with her team. The team believes in her. Her legacy will live for a long time. Aja Wilson is an example of Dawn Staley's greatness. There will be more Aja Wilson's who extend coach Staley's legacy. Greatness shines like a beam of light. Much love to all these coaches. Know that we see you, and so do the others who pretend not to.❤❤❤❤❤

I loved watching the five black coaches talk about coaching etc. I am a 71 years old black female and have been a volunteer coach with inner city youths for more than 40 years. first you show them love, praise them when they make mistakes and let them be themselves. Don't keep them on the bench too long. Give them the same opportunity as others. These 5 coaches are great for our kids. They are awesome black women, doing what they do.

@klevdavful Not really. She took a team full of super players with size, and lost to an undersized Iowa team with only one super player. She pulled Boston out with two fouls and when Boston returned she lost her effectiveness. She never adjusted to Iowas disrespect for Raven Johnson's 3 point shooting ability until too late in the game. Not too bright for a coach loaded with talented superstars.

@@brianmccormick5435 I agree with Dawn possibly catching Coach Stringer. Coach Stringer started coaching when she was I think 23 or 24. Dawn was 30 but if she keeps having these great teams she just might. I also wished that Coach Stringer won a NC. Pat Summitt is my favorite coach in any sport at any level but I would have been...."UN mad" 😁 if Rutgers had won that title game in '07 but Coach Stringer is also one of my favorite coaches in any sport at any level and she deserved to win at least one.She has a WNIT title but she deserved the big one.

I so agree with this, but I'll take it a step further. Most games in the NCAA and WNBA have two game analysts... right? Ever notice that one is a man and one woman? Now look at the experience in the game of basketball, most of the time the female analyst has WAY MORE experience in the game than her partner... but yet she is the #2 analyst? Whatever happened to the best person gets the job? I've watched WNBA games where the male analysts calls a player by the wrong name... would that ever happen in the NBA and a female analyst? I was one of the fortunate in the early days of Title 9 to go to college on an athletic scholarship; but when I look back now... we truly have not come that far in 40+ years. We're still struggling for the same opportunities as men, equal pay etc... And as a last reminder, please look back in World Championships, Olympic Medals and National Championships and see who has had the most in the last couple of decades.., women are leading that by far. It's time to keep fighting and pass along the spirit and determination all of you have to the next generation.
