New interviews every week with Green Room Tales! From legends to underground sensations, you've never seen bands in their element talking like this before.
We had a chance to talk with Black Francis who was the lead singer of The Pixies and in 1998 had just formed Frank Black and The Catholics, and you'll want to watch the whole thing!
Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV -- born April 6, 1965 -- is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the frontman of the influential alternative rock band Pixies, with whom he performs under the stage name Black Francis. Following the band's breakup in 1993, he embarked on a solo career under the name Frank Black. After releasing two albums with record label 4AD and one with American Recordings, he left the label and formed a new band, Frank Black and the Catholics. He re-adopted the name Black Francis in 2007.
Green Room Tales is your chance to watch candid never-before-seen interviews of artists on the road and at the legendary House of Blues in Los Angeles. Check back for new interviews every single week only on this channel!
The very first House of Blues opened its doors in a converted historical house in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1992 and is home to live music, original folk art, and delta-inspired cuisine. Grown out of founder Isaac Tigret's love for blues music, the House of Blues is dedicated to educating and celebrating the history of Southern Culture and African American artistic contributions to music and art.

I've been blessed to see so many good gigs - Foo fighters, Madonna, INXS, Lloyd Cole, Serj Tankian, Placebo, James , Kings of Leon & many, many more. The best were the 3 Pixies shows I went to with the original line up. Looking back I feel honoured to have seen them even once. Hands down the best live band ever, stadium or not. La La Love ya!

14:53 Holiday Song Awesome Strumming!! I saw Frank Black And The Catholics at around this time in the fall of 1998 in New York City. It was such an awesome and surreal show. It sounded like they were switching the key of the songs as they played them...like they would start out playing the song in "C" then modulate the song into the key of C# and then again to D, but without losing the flow of the song or grasp of the melody. Reid Paley opened for them and he was great too. I was only 22 at the time and Frank seemed so much older to me, like an uncle or older adult that you see as being considerably older than yourself but now that I see this video at 41 he seems like a young man (32/33). Weird how perspective changes...but I still am a huge fan that hasn't changed!

if "the previous album" was _Cult of Ray_ that was '96 or '97 so this would have been right before the first Catholics album.
