Yes, it really DID happen, battle of mogadishu he was the first ground casualty and was taking back to the American base by a group of 3 humvees.

Helicopter had to dodge the shooting and jerked when he reached out to grab the rope. Wasn’t his fault

it did happen but in reality there was no rpg. reports of the incident suggest he missed the rope because of too much adrenaline. This was his first mission as a Ranger. He survived.
