The brilliance of this sketch as written by Michael Che is that is shows the working class people, white or black, have far more in common than most realize.
@raggaduxjones
@raggaduxjones Жыл бұрын
Thank you for saying that. Working and middle class Americans have much in common, despite race. The elites keep us divided and fighting amongst each other because they know if we ever actually came together to challenge the status quo, they would be swinging from ropes.

@@raggaduxjones This is one of the reasons why MLK also addressed classism and socioeconomic issues. It's one of the great historical shames, watering down his legacy to "just be colorblind" while ignoring all the social steps needed to make that happen

@@raggaduxjones I must say, I received some much needed joy from reading your comment just now. I sincerely hope that one day many Americans will be able to wake up and realize that enough is enough. Not to get too political/social here in the comments but frankly it is a subject that's been keeping me up at night. I think, for the good of this country, there needs to be change. Not change that's promised to us by politicians but real, actual change that comes from the people. You can only be sick and tired of being powerless - of having little or nothing on your plate while others have more than what they need - for so long.

I retract a little bit on that last one Pac did put it on a front, but he still created an unmatched energy…. The gangster character that he played he nailed it like a freaking actor that’s why he wanted to go to the acting that was his passion, the problem was is the character that he played started to blend with his life too much and his association with Shug, he started beefing with everyone…. he wanted out…. Michael Che and Colin Jost on Weekend Update, Bowen Yang as the iceberg that sank the Titanic, Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze auditioning to be Chippendale's dancers, Eddie Murphy last year as a baking show contestant, the Coneheads, Todd and Lisa giving noogies, John Belushi as Samurai Hotel keeper. SNL is absolutely iconic!! Lorne Michaels, the creator, has brought us some of the greatest actors for the last 5 decades. From cast members to hosts. I mean comedy and drama Icons, just from cast members. It would take me all afternoon to list them. Endless, epic, comedy that will never be repeated, the way he created it!!

Thanks for the reaction. Please do go down the extensive SNL rabbit hole, even if just a little. It is iconic in many ways and launched a whole lot of careers! I respectfully request that you guys do a little research on SNL, and other people or shows you’re about to watch, even if it’s on the fly and immediately preceding your vid, as part of it. By not having any knowledge of the show, you’re really doing yourselves and SNL a great injustice by not knowing at least its basic history. Belushi, Chase, Radner, Morris, Hartmann, Murphy, etc. the list of comedic greats from this show goes on.

Garrett Morris was the first black "token" on SNL from 1975. Richard Pryor was a guest star, never a regular. Correct me if I'm wrong, Eddie Murphy was the second black cast member. I know Damon Wayans and Chris Rock later 'joined' the show, but it didn't do much for them. They had to do some arm-twisting just to get two black regulars on there together. Elaine Cleghornne was on there a bit, Tim Meadows. Tracy Morgan. Finesse Mitchell? This man here playing the game show host, he finally had to tell them he won't play black women anymore, so they had to bring in a black female cast member. Garrett Morris was the cab driver in the first Ant Man movie. That was because he portrayed Ant Man in a skit back when he was on SNL and John Belushi was the Hulk. Very funny skit, too.
