Faheem speaks powerfully about some of the challenges experienced by Black collegiate faculty, and raises questions about the success of recent attention given to diversity and inclusion at colleges and universities. A professor himself, Faheem highlights the value of having more diverse faculty ranks and points to some of the more successful strategies toward achieving this goal. Faheem is a tenured faculty member in Sinclair Community College’s history and AFS programs. Receiving the distinction of being the youngest male to be awarded tenure in liberal arts discipline at a 2- or 4-year institution, Faheem has excelled professionally. Faheem’s local research project covering West Dayton's now defunct Hog Bottom neighborhood has been recognized and showcased at the REACH Conference, National Afro-American Museum & Cultural Center, by the Association for The Study of African American Life and History. Faheem is co-lead of the Ubuntu Study Abroad program with Furaha Henry-Jones. The Ubuntu program has been recognized nationally at prestigious conferences such as The League of Innovation among others of distinction. The Ubuntu program is the only study abroad program nationally at the community college level with an acute academic focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. Black thought, Black academia, and Black excellence is very much at the forefront of Faheem’s socio-academic nexus. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

DIE is based off a philosophy called “critical theory”, a neo marxist ideology. If you haven’t noticed, it is already causing a huge cultural split in the US. Your statement shows that you either want the “revolution” many theorists call for, or you are not informed enough about the origins of this new religion and its underlying, destructive goals.

I am downvoting because people that feel sorry for themselves are incapable of success. This man is perpetuating a mindset of feeling powerless, indignant and distracted by comparing themselves to others. Doesn't matter how unfair the world has been, no one likes a complainer, downer, or pessimist. This talk is making people think like losers. He should change strategies by empowering people with knowledge, skills and confidence.
