If you think all Hollywood does are sequels and reboots you’re wrong. People make fun of the Oscars because they’ve never heard of the nominated movies, you know why that is? Because people who think Hollywood only does sequels and reboots never take the time to go and watch that original content! Go watch 8th grade, go watch Bad Times at the El Royale, go watch Blindspotting, go watch Hereditary, don’t blame Hollywood because you’re content to go and see Infinity War a bunch of times
@izzycast5511
@izzycast5511 5 жыл бұрын
Honestly I’m not that content with Hollywood. They don’t really come up with original concepts for movies, all they do is make sequels and remakes. Then they fuck up the remakes and sequels because they know that people will watch them anyways. Even if they know it’s bad (I am one of them) and it’s just like you know they don’t really care anymore. They’re just sitting there at the top. I don’t think anyone can stop them and it sucks

Dan Toppy i was thinking about the same thing! As a designer myself, i am quite used to user-interaction flow charts and data architecture in web-digital related content, and small projects are already very tangled. Crossing it with writing and script for storytelling just blows my mind way, because the levels of interaction can double exponentially, in a matter of speaking. Quite common in Video Games, but not in Live Action. I believe they did a redundant flow based in binary focus, with minimal interaction, just like the Bandersnatch book, but also the Choose-Your-Adventure books and even classical RPG. The edit may be done by the bits, getting the scenes from the binary focus and mixing with the already stablished choices. The beauty in here is that there is no logical ending, and there are changes every time you play the story. That was beautiful. A pearl of storytelling really.

The biggest congrats goes to the editors of Bandersnatch. How there are tons of different paths, how the story loops you back to where you should keep looking, how the story speeds up after you've already seen it, how characters behave slightly different on previous encounters. It's Black Mirror, that was unlikely from the get go. 😜 BUT - did you get the "Train/TOY" ending? It's the one where Stefan goes back in time, retrieves the toy rabbit, and goes on the 8:45 train with his mom. It is beautifully heartbreaking in a Black Mirror sort of way, and I think it was the "best" for Stefan in the end. **Side note, the best ending for Stefam as a character is the one where he decides to work at Tuckersoft (if I'm getting the name right). Sure, his game only gets 2.5 stars, but that's the only bad thing that happens!

I still wonder tho *how it really works, behind the scenes?* I wish Netflix Tech on Medium will write a full blog post about it detailing their process and implementation bc this is just bonkers I mean here's some of my questions, 1. How does it the transitions between clips on options is so smooth?!? This has never been done before in interactive movies. This is a big achievement 2. What really is the options UI, is it a web view above the video, is it part of the video player itself. How it able to work on most Netlfix apps in all platform's except that damn powerful Apple TV?!? 3. I wonder tho who or what determines the lazy viewing experience of it (where just choose and watch) and it'll still be 1h 30m runtime 4. What's really the definitive real ending? 5. Will Netflix, Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker and the cast write, shoot and add new scenes to the dead ends and options, like its a game free DLC or update? So less retrying, more options ans more timelines. What's even the line between video games and interactive movies/TV shows anymore?! 6. Since there's a blur between the line between interactive movies and video games anymore, what will be the copyright protections and fair uses case for this? Will Let Players on KZfaq will be allowed to play this (with commentary of course and fair use of the footage) without getting striked by Netflix on KZfaq? 7. Where's the part the tech where it's said Netflix control us all? That the audience is never really in control of the narrative lol.
@TWFydGlu
@TWFydGlu 5 жыл бұрын
1. Reading between the lines from Hollywood Reporter they buffer all possible outcomes at a decision point. The switch is always at a cut, and jumping streams isn't really new technology. 2. Appears to be images overlaid the video stream, like subtitles. 3. Charlie Brooker decided the defaults. 4. There is not definitive real ending.

@livndays45 5 жыл бұрын
If you watch carefully before each decision, there’s a cut to a wide/alternative angle. This angle is fixed regardless of which decision you make, and feeds into the decision you do make, which is the next scene. The tricky part from an editing perspective is lining up the audio track to be seamless. That’s an incredibly tedious and manual process. There’s actually one mistake where it doesn’t line up properly.

The way bandersnatch went for me just gave me so much anxiety. It took me on an emotional rollercoaster, and I felt so connected to Stefan in the end when he died. That really made me feel so emotional, because it felt like you were a key part of him, and it shows you what he went through just because of a video game. It's just heartbreaking for me and confusing. It gives you a taste of what it would be like to go insane in such a realistic way if you choose the right paths. Because of this, it built up so much anxiety and stress inside me that I still can't get rid of. Still, a great creation, but frightening all at the same time.

I love the hard work and innovation that went into Black Mirror: Bandersnatch! Played it multiple times, however, I did find it a rather boring storyline...not engaging enough for me personally! I love Black Mirror and I love a good choose your own adventure game, so I assumed I’d love this as well! However, I think the next big interactive film should be more focused on horror / survival! My sister threw out comment saying that this would’ve been dope if it was Saw! Where you got to choose how people died, lol. Kinda sicko, but engaging! Or even an apocalypse like Telltales A Walking Dead game! It’s cool that we get to pick cereal and music and such, but there needed to be more crazy choices like “Kill dad!l or “Take the drug!” or “Chop or Bury the body!” Those were the coolest moments! The rest was very, eh. He could’ve made those by himself. It’s a GREAT start! Love it! Hoping to see something even bigger and that would have me on the edge of my seat crying because I made the wrong choices! Bravo Netflix!

Hey, wasn’t Bandersnatch being filmed during March or April of 2018? Because they only announced the trailer of it on December the 27th of 2018.
