As soon as I first heard about BLACK MYTH WUKONG I started saving money for it especially if it would have a collectors edition and that was years ago so as soon as they announced it was ready for pre-order I brought the collectors edition and deluxe edition because I'm a hardcore collector sadly I was sorta disappointed that it won't have a disc but plenty of games aren't having any and I'm fine with it. And I have the standard edition on my PS5 wishlist and decided to give the codes to my youngest son and nephew for doing well in school(both are straight A students) and I wanted to reward them for their efforts and use the other one when it's available on my wishlist..sad thing is that I was getting a LOT of hate just for thinking ahead and saving MY money for whatever want to use it for. A lot of people are crying about the lack of a disc but that doesn't worry me I'm just ready to play it and when it does get a disc(since they said they would work on it) I'll get one. If I honestly hear someone call a game "Soulslike" one more time just because it's got a dodge mechanic or has even a little difficulty to it I'm going to lose my mind. To hear anyone say that this is actually not a soulslike is a breath of fresh air!

That's not what the dev means! Black Myth Wukong by the director/dev said that there are "the darkness veil, when he fought these unknown demon" this is in account to the tale of the Monkey King in China. Sun Wukong defeated these demon and that's what the director is focusing on. The times Sun Wukong fought these unknown demon in the "darkness veil" tales that are not expounded on. It's not that the monkey we're playing is not Sun Wukong. We are playing the inexperience, still learning, still growing Sun Wukong defeating demons to obtain enlightenment. So if anyone keeps saying it's a clone of Sun Wukong. . .it's not

Doesn't make a lot of sense because the monkey we see at the first gameplay travail has the real ruyi jingu bang with the "As-you-wish gold-banded cudgel" inscription we also see the battle in heaven which was before wukong got sealed this wukong is either a clone or another monkey(because there is quite a lot of them in the mythology.)

@@PlaqueKaiser it's going back and forth in the time. Wukong is probably contemplating all of these events. At the end of the game is probably a reveal that Wukong is sealed in the mountain

@PlaqueKaiser also first one that we're playing was probably during one of his fight retelling of when he let loose one of his clone during this black veil to fight demons. When his clone tried to kill the demon Sun Wukong came and stopped him. The player probably merges with Sun Wukong after that, but we don't know. The black veil is just a retelling or story that Sun Wukong is probably recounting and we're playing as him

After watching a numerous reviews including popular gaming review media, finally a review that goes over the background story of Journey to the West. Thank you for doing this because apparently those gaming media reviews didn't even bother understanding the story of Journey to the West and started talking nonsense. Love your video and will definitely buy this game, the graphic, the art, the content and story truly amazed me! Only thing that I hope is the subtitle translation which could be difficult to translate and understand. (I'm female gamer btw, dont think how this game is sexism.but im sure other female gamers out there are waiting to play!)

Temper your expectations. The number of bosses will be massive, but that not necessarily goes to exploration and level design. Some previews say that the areas between bosses are very small and with little things to do/discover. Nevertheless, it's a fact that Black Myth: Wukong looks absolutely superb regarding graphics, art direction and battle mechanics.

The only thing that worries me is that the enemies dont block or react defensivly to your attacks. They just take the hits then go into their attack animation.

This is going to be a great game! I’m just a bit disappointed that there isn't much parkour. Wukong is a natural character for amazing acrobatics throughout the environments.

If only elden ring felt and played like this That game’s combat feels so unresponsive even after giving us so many great options in combat it doesn’t feel good to play. Lacks a satisfying gameplay Black myth seems to have nailed that part and the graphics truly make it feel like a next gen (which should be called current by this point)

Elden ring has amazing combat in the DLC with the new weapon sets. Also this game is spammier yhan elden ring- less skill requiered by using smart frames. This will be a decent game. Elden ring will remain one for the history

@@andreichetan4694 I understand that but tell me honestly don’t you feel the combat doesn’t feel smooth, is unresponsive and it just lacks the satisfaction from the moment to moment gameplay. The only true satisfaction achieved is when you understand the enemy attack patterns and dodge block/parry with optimum timing. I’m talking only relative to gameplay. It feels as if I am playing a ps3 game. What’s the point of having so many combat options if it doesn’t feel as good to use them or perhaps watch them being used. I’m not writing anything blindly here. I’ve completed the base game with immeasurable hours. It is amazing at what it does but, it is ridiculously overrated.

@@seniorgun9452 i love the combat, is like a methodical dance. Slower with burst windows. Wu kong looks like a spammier hack n slash. Anyway, ER combat isnt perfect, nor this new game. That i agree. Would you rather play spammy Gow ragnarok combat or ER? Have a nice day!

Looks AMAZING and I have already pre-ordered on playstation, but I so wish we could have gotten the beautiful collector and deluxe physical editions that the PC players were allowed to pre-order. :( I want that restricting crown sooooo bad!

The Chinese developer of this game, Game Science, does not consider it to be a Souls-like game, but prefers to use the more general term "action RPG." A spokesperson for the studio told me, "In this game, you can see a lot of spells and transformation moves." He also added that there are various combat styles, allowing players to "create their own combos and find their own style." "This is the freedom we want to give players." The developers pointed out that the game also has two other key elements that distinguish it from Soulslikes: narrative and difficulty. The game follows a single, linear path. "This is a story-driven linear game," confirmed a Game Science spokesperson. "In some levels, the maps are much larger than what you just saw, but we wouldn't call ourselves an open-world game."

Thanks for the info as I did not know what type of game this was. I do get kind of annoyed that just cause something is difficult people think its soulslike. I mean doesn't anyone remember DMC3. I also hope this game has a transmog system.

I find it funny everyone compares anything where you fight giant bosses to Dark souls when Ninja Gaiden did it before them not saying NG did it first of any game but definitely dark souls Demon souls came out 2009 NG came out 2005

Nice video! Chinese gaming sites reviewed their 2 hours gameplay saying that they gathered 11 boss fights in the begining region alone. As 6 regions already shown in previous trailers, there could be 100+ bosses in the whole game. But anyway, all speculations

First region is the biggest region, the rest are smaller region that branched from first region. 100 bosses is crazy, It most likely 15-20 bosses.

I just put like 200 hours into ff7 rebirth. It was the best game I have ever played in my life. I know jrpgs aren't for everyone but rebirth is the apex, until remake part 3 comes out whatever it will be called. Wukong looks good, hope the combat and story can compete with rebirth. The new standard has been set, and it was on UE4. Time will tell if anyone is on par with square Enix and the team making the remake trilogy.

The story in this Journey to the West probably took some inspiration from the very old movie "A Chinese Odyssey Pandora Box 1 and 2" starring Stephen Chow (comedian actor who did Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer). It a hidden gem movie of his where he play two roles, he play as Monkey but at the same time play a character who was reincarnated as a human after Monkey did an unforgiving crime in the past. The movie is going back and forth in time to resurrect Monkey

No. The movie is based on a lot of movies. Journey to the west has a lot of series. Stephen chow few hours movie does not even touch the surface of the story. The novel and a lot of “series” movie is like real life One Piece, with hundreds of episodes.

@@dave3076 I can recommend the 1960 cartoon "Havoc in Heaven" or "Uproar in Heaven" depending how you write it. You can find it in KZfaq for free. It an old classic cartoon made in China before the Cultural Revolution and that studio last movie. It tell the condensed version of Monkey born from a stone and up to him fighting against Jade Emperor and how he become immortal. Most Chinese who grew up from the 60 have at least watched this classic.

The PC specs don't seem too extreme, considering the fidelity this game is pushing. I was thinking at least a 3080 for the game to work well on standard settings but a 2080 is said to run it quite well at 1080

I have been hyped since the very 1st reveal of this game! It is looking phenomenal! From graphics to music and the most important part, the gameplay, it all looks amazing! I just hope it feels as good as it looks! Cos i have seen many games that look great but once i have got my hands on the game i finally realise its all looks and sound, and everything else just feels completely wrong! I have faith in this like i did with Lies Of P and Stella Blade! Both of those games were phenomenal. I have to say that, 99.99% of the time, when deciding if i will enjoy a game or won't, well 99.99% of the time i am right, and more times than not i know whether a game is gonna be awesome or not! So i have complete faith in this game blowing gamers minds! I hope i am right cos it would be such a disappointment if it wasn't feeling how it looks.

You're right. So far, the Destined One has not had a line or said anything in the trailers so far. Well, the only one I would believe is the trailer that showed the first time the game set a release date. There was a kid in the beginning talking to his master. That's probably what i was thinking, but i could be wrong. It would be nice if he did have a voice actor. But for me, if he doesn't, it's not going to be much of a bother to me.

(Acrobats he is very agile and there are many acrobatics move Semi open word ( tons of path, and tons of exploration are there) Boss is difficult and challenging ( they have second phase)but little bit easier then soul like ,elden ring, Game contains cut scene and jaw droping graphics and details and world breaking music Play time 25+++hour (expected depend on person play style) Many skills and transformation such as ( after image, immobilize, transformation,shadow clone ,stone solid),and so on Cosmetic and leveling system are their as you like RPG elements are their:: collectable,Armor,level system, are their

Not a soulslike. Those who played it are saying that it's not other than few mechanics like lock on and rest point stuff. It's a full on action game with a skill tree, spells and attack moves. It's more like God of War, Stellar Blade, MGS 4. Plus there's also transformation mechanics where you turn into bosses you've previously defeated.

Just to put this out there, this game isn't a soulslike, it just borrows SOME elements of one. This is more similar to a game like Stellar Blade, if you were to draw a comparison
