Agreed, I love how they remembered that little detail. Everyone else is terrified of the injuries and risk of death they will face in the battle... but for Barbossa, it's a reminder that he truly is alive again and no longer an empty skeleton ghoul.

That’s a trait the films keep during the entire serie. Every time he eats an apple or drinks wine you can sense how much he loves not been cursed. Barbossa is an amazing character.

This little detail just makes me love the guy even more.

I love little moments like that. A great piece of continuity.

Tbh it's more about the build up. I😂swear some Marvel kid actually endgame, I'm sorry endgame is not that great at all. Only Peter Jackson with his hobbit movies and lord of the rings were so good on that, now everything is gonna be a show or something. I think into and across the spider verse are the ones who are getting close to the perfection

Most movies these days just feel so empty by comparison.

I got here from The Answer Is 9's One Villainous Scene regarding Jones and with the context of that video it makes sense (I recommend it btw) Jones' entire motivation was based on his love, and rage, for Calypso. Once, his rage was invoked because Calypso failed to uphold her end of the bargain. I think that at this point though, he recognized that she still cared for him and maybe, just maybe, there was a chance once this whole business with Sparrow and the Company was concluded, they could be together after it all anyways. And now, by the actions of the Company and Jack Sparrow, she has been *taken* from him. It's why he took great personal pleasure in killing his commander once the Heart was no longer their bargaining chip. If they didn't have the heart, they wouldn't have declared war on all pirates. Had they not declared war on all pirates, the pirates wouldn't have been driven to such desparate levels that they actually got a fucking king in power for the first time ever, and undid the sealing that bound Calypso. His love has been effectively taken away from him, and now he's never getting her back. Something I can tell you from personal experiences with grief, when you've been separated from a beloved for some time, you... tend to go through grief's stages faster. Especially when you've had some serious beef with said beloved. In that one scene, we see recognition. He recognizes she is free. As he feels her touch in the rain, knowing it's all he'll ever get from her ever again, his anger for her and her wronging of him melts. He forgives her in his metaphorical heart. For a moment, he grieves, allowing himself a moment for his own personal loss. He then accepts that she's gone, and that there is no power in this world or the next that can bring her back (something the Ferryman is acutely familiar with). And it morphs into rage for those that took her from him. It really is a subtle, but powerful scene.

His war cry after that was bone chilling

When I saw this part the first time. I knew shit was about to get real, but I wasn't prepared to how awesome the next scene would be.

Both ships were boss battles from previous movies and now they're going head to head. One for the history books.

Gotta say, the Pearl is way more than just a decent ship. Then again, the dutchman does have the advantage here.

I'd remind you on what Gibbs said during Jones chase of the pearl in Dead Mans Chest: "Against the wind the Dutchman beats us, that's how she takes her prey. But with the wind..." Beckett considering the advantages of the Dutchman is quite right by saying they've got a "favorable wind", as is Gibbs.

the maelstrom rotates the wind in a circle im pretty sure so both sides would have a favorable wind in this situation.

​@@grimmshredsanguinus2915pretty sure it's still a ghost ship since it's still one specially raised from the ocean by Jones, and is the only ship in existence that can outrun the Dutchman due to it being much faster than any ship in existence due to its ghostly nature from Jack's deal with Jones.

Craziest thing about this scene is the only CGI part of this is the ship sails and the ocean around them, rest was debris cannons, heavy rain sprinklers and the largest hydraulic gimbal systems ever built.

Honestly, if Barbossa is my captain, I am willing to pledge my full loyalty to him. He has the charisma and confidence to lead his crew even in the most dangerous situations any pirate could ever face.

Dutchman is a Dutch-Flyte which is slower than galleon like Pearl

@@Sgt-Toxin they were still blasting holes in the other ship with ammunition, whether it be meant for that or not. fighting off boarders it was a ship to ship fight by all accounts this is the first evenly matched one though
