@@_KantenMaaier_ well I mean jack gets the black pearl in a bottle in stranger tides, but the black pearl is resurrected in the 5th installment after being freed from the bottle and has been in the rest of the film. This happens around the one-hour mark though.

Thank you very much. For sails, I used fine cotton canvas dyed black canvas paint, then impregnated slightly using white wood glue dissolved in water just to make invisible yet proper impregnation. Considering hull, I first used greenish walnut water-based stain to make impression of old slightly rotter wood, then I made 2 coats of acrylic black stain with wax, suing sponge to make fine thin coating. the second coating of water based - acrylic stain with wax I mixed with talc, to get this washed look. And finally, some washed- aged details were done by dry brush technique.

Thank you. It took 18 months to build this ship. It is hollow hull and completely watertight below the waterline so yes it could float and sail in water , but to achieve it - it should have added some ballast at the bottom of the hull to keep it straight ( like in the real ships - they always had ballast a the bottom of the hull. But this model is not designed to be radio controlled to sail in water, so there's no ballast there.

Your boat is cool but how did you do this

Frankly, the process of painting staining and weathering was pretty complex. I do not use paints, instead I use "old fashioned techniques: water/ alcohol based stains acrylic stains with wax, than I used chemicals for weathering treatment: iron acetate (produced by dissolving iron wool in white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide) and I used some talc mixed with black acrylic stain with wax to get this silver - bronze traces of corrosion on the hull.

This model was build uon the blueprints designed and created by the masterful Japanese modeler who runs blog about model buildings under the name - mellpapa and who declared and offered his blueprints for free. That s why in the text below the video I credited him. As far as I know, mellpapa was blueprints are the first Black Pearl model blueprints ever created, and published, long before any commercial kit of this model appeared. Als, according to my knowlede and a bit of research it seems that Chinese complany ZHL followed him as the second one ith own blueprints and kit comlete.

Thank you Jerzy, It's not easy to answer about thickness of ropes since I didn't use any standard, ready-made ropes for models, instead I have made my own rope- walking machine and I produced all ropes and cables by myself using thin treads and combining 3 or 5 threads for ropes and cables. I could only tell you approximate size of some- measured afterwards, for example I think that the anchor cables are 1.2mm and all stays, and cables are approx. 1mm, while running ropes are approximately 0,3mm and 0,4mm. It is for the scale of the model 1:60 that I have made.

I was not selling my models so far, although I consider in near future to commercialize my work and offer models for sale. This model is not a standard kit production and advised finish, it is unique in every aspect of the build (I always give personal artistic touch to my models) and has been built for slightly over 18 months: several thousands hours of work to achieve this level of details and coloring, all scratch built, and if would be offered in the market it wouldn't be below 6000-8000 EUR plus transport costs.

I placed and glued to cannon carriages without mounted cannons, on the lower deck through cannon ports, than I carefully inserted cannons and glued them them on the carriages, cannon port lids were attached afterwards. Cannon carriages cannot pass through with mounted wheels, so, since they are anyway not visible in the closed hull construction I put below each carriage a small square piece of wood 1,5mm thickness to raise guns to the desired level and glued carriages on top of it.. 30mm Amati cannons could pass through and fit on the carriages without problems.

Except guns which are purchased every single part on this model was hand made.
