I'm italian. I know Pavarotti and I was lucky enough to hear him sing. But "Nessun dorma" makes me cry every time I listen to it. It opens your soul wide and the tears are nothing but the power of the emotion that explodes inside you. During the lookdown you heard "Nessun dorma" on the streets of all Italian cities, from the windows and terraces, to give courage and hope. Thanks for your video: it was exciting to see the reaction of the people who listened to Pavarotti for the first time. Thank you again.

I agree 100% My parents had a decent range of music that they listened to, it just whetted my apatite. By the time I was a teen I was listening to a far greater range than they were comfortable (mostly older symphonies and opera, at the time I considered modern rock junk, but I did like very early rap). Now I can be enthralled with a Greek polemic from 300 BC (Tony Curtis brings me to tears in Spartacus), to a new age recording of a thunderstorm over a bay with piano. Music is from and to the soul, the method is just a detail. Some like Nessun Dorma is sent with a canon so even the deaf can hear :)

The Great Maestro named LUCIANO PAVAROTTI had the ability of using his exceptional voice for touching the souls of the HUMANS who heard his arias...... and the ANGELS stopped in fascination just to listen to this miracle voice of a MAN .

@@GRANTTRIBECreates I think the aria Casta Diva is also exquisitely beautiful & would be a great one to film reactions to. Especially the incomparable voice of Maria Callas.

@@kathleenanne1718 That is on my agenda. however the reactions are very limited, mainly voice instructor's and such doing critiques and analysis, but i will try to find some first time reactions and maybe make a short compilation video! Keep your eyes open Kathleen 😀peace Grant

I got a hold of the cello part which corresponds to the melody that Pavarotti sings, & I play it at home on my trombone. Clearly this music is universal & can help folks make it through the lockdown...George, Canada

I love watching these reactions. Everyone hearing Pavarotti for the first time was DEEPLY moved. Beauty, soul and greatness transcends all cultures. You might be interested to know that when Pavarotti was too ill to perform at the Grammys, Aretha Franklin was a last minute sub singing Nessun Dorma her way. Check it out. Two of the greatest singers of all times.

Yes, Elizabeth!!! I had to learn there was more to music than R&B. My tears first shed over the way Mahalia Jackson could reach you! But, slowly I learned and remember I was 40 years old before I first reacted this way to this very aria! Tears!

I wish I could remember the first time hearing Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma. Is it just me or is anyone else envious of anyone who heard it the first time as an adult, without any idea of what to expect. It's really neat to experience this song with first time listeners.

Thanks for the video Grant. As an Italian-French i appreciated it much. Would be great also to explain to the viewers, a bit of the plot of the Puccini's Turandot for Opera beginners. Actually the "Vincerò" string has very positive motivational lyrics. I invite everyone just to read the plot and then listen it with the voice of the master. We actually use it before going to action when i was in the military. Peace to everyone.

This is wonderful! I am quite enjoying watching others see (hear) him for the first time. I cry every time I hear this as well. Very, very powerful!! Strangely enough, I heard Nessun Dorma for the first time watching The Witches of Eastwick! (I know!!). When I asked my Dad (an avid opera lover) what it was, he got all excited that I took an interest (I like rock), and gave me his Turnadot on CD, and explained what the opera and the song was about!
