I have been watching rice water videos for a while, but since I only had forbidden rice I was reluctant to try it, two weeks ago I decided to give it a go, so I mixed the rice water and fenugreek seeds to make the water and added Aloe Vera juice. My hair is currently in a protective style, I did notice that I have great new growth. I also added fenugreek powder to my Shea Moisture hair creme. Will keep you posted once I take my hair out next week to wash it.

Even in the front part where the curls were looser they became tighter coils...so exciting!! 😂 I’m just wondering how often do you use it for low porosity hair and would you prepare it by boiling the rice in the water and fermenting it that way or would you just place it in room temperature water and leaving it overnight? I had to give black rice water a good go before commenting. I have 12 yo locs and suffer from alopecia areata. Since 13 yo. I only have a small bald patch at my hairline on the right. My other larger patches on both sides are full of hair. However they do not grow more than mm. I tried brw to see if it helps. I have had a little more length. But I have noticed that its excellent at building protein in to the actual locs. I just don't understand why my patches seem stuck short. They used to grow back normally. But have both just been short for years. I was really hoping this might help. I dermaroll and use nutrients internally. I honestly am at the end of my tether. AA is such an unpredictable disorder. I appreciate your videos. I just can't seem to find the key. Although I believe my hair growth cycle is at fault thanks to your help

Last year I was doing fermented brown and white rice water rinses about every two to three weeks. I noticed that my hair became dry, brittle and snapped like uncooked spaghetti! So I stopped them and tried tea rinses with Ayurvedic herbs. I'm low porosity with fine stands btw. I'm not protein sensitive, but I guess that the rice water rinses were too much protein for me.

I use black rice water and love it! I boil the rice until it's half done and pour it in a mason jar, cover it with a paper towel, let sit for three days, and then use on the third day. I also eat the rice because it's to expensive to waste, it's great for digestion, full of fiber and nutrients, and it tastes good. I mix the black rice water with my shampoo and conditioner. I also just recently started mixing it with aloe juice and essential oils in a spray bottle. I use that to spray on my hair to help detangle my hair and help add moisture when styling my hair. I like it a lot.

Love the new name. I am late to your channel but my understanding is the hair that we see essentially is dead the life is at the root. If we eat a good diet then this will make a difference to your hair. These treatments are limited in what they can do as the problem has already occurred. Am I wrong?
@CurlyChemistry4 жыл бұрын
A good diet is good yes, but hair treatments/regimens are important to maintaining healthy hair. Even though hair is "dead", it still responds when we neglect it (dry/breakage) or care for it (soft/manageable).
@coriebarnes86804 жыл бұрын
PLEASE don't believe that! I eat a very healthy diet and take herbal supplements from European to Asian to Ayurvedic. I went through a busy season at work where all I had time to do was eat, shower, and sleep during the few hours that I was off everyday. Wash day takes a minimum of 5 hours for my best nourishing routine. And, that's the quick version. It usually takes a full day, sometimes extending overnight into the next day. With no off days in sight, all I could do was wear a satin bonnet literally all day and sleep in it too. I would take it off to let my hair breathe for a few hours. But, eventually, after 3 months of NOT washing my hair, it became dry, tangled and matted. I had no patience to spend hours detangling it so I actually had to cut it. 💇🏾♀️ So, please listen to this wise woman, Curly Chemistry. And learn from my experience. You can't neglect your hair. You really DO need to care for your hair in between wash days. Eating a healthy diet alone will NOT sustain healthy hair.

Been using this for over a year--rinse off the rice, I add about 2 tsp of fenugreek and then soak for a day. My hair loves it! I use it either as a rinse between shampoo and condition, use it as the liquid when I mix a clay wash, or mix it with my deep conditioner. I wondered about arsenic tho...does that only apply to white & brown rice?
@itsmidtrib15694 жыл бұрын
@Just K I want to see your hair. Heard lots about fenugreek and black rice water

@@itsmidtrib1569 looks like you can't upload a pic in the reply box, otherwise I'd send you pix. Its been great for my hair. Now I can do wash n gos! Previously it just looked a mess, lol. I don't overdo it tho. I incorporated it into my wash day, didn't do any of the challenges where folks were putting it into their hair every day for a week. I may try a leave in at some point, but just using the liquid either as a rinse between shampoo & conditioner, or as the liquid in making a clay wash has worked great for me.
@itsmidtrib15694 жыл бұрын
@Just K would you say these have helped your hair grow? Did it make your hair softer, smoother, shinier? Is it worth it to be consistent with it? Even if it’s just once a week? How was your hair before you started using these? Lol sorry I am just considering if I should do this every time I wash my hair (once a week)
@justKKB4 жыл бұрын
My hair defined more easily and was more manageable. Definitely saw less breakage (RW increases elasticity). That's what i was looking for. Hmmm smoother? I'm not sure I gauged that. But shiny, yes. I'd say coffee oil and the baggy method (putting shower cap over head overnight after oiling scalp) have made my hair the softest its ever been. I did the baggy/coffee oil thing by accident and noticed softer hair immediately so now I do it once or twice a week. Massage in the coffee oil, put a plastic cap over it. Put my SLAP over that (just in case, lol) and go to bed. In the morning take off both and my hair is soft as ever! Before that I can't say I cared about/noticed softness one way or the other.
@itsmidtrib15694 жыл бұрын
@Just K Nice! 🙌 I do have coffee oil. I’ll try putting that on my hair but I never leave anything in overnight. I like to wash at night and let it air dry while I sleep. I’ll probably do the fenugreek and black bean method though you don’t have to cook them right?

What is the protein content of the black rice? Can this cause protein overload or how frequently can this be done and how should it be used for maximum benefits? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Love this video! Quick question, what’s your recommendation on how to use the black rice water? How often? Whole hair or only scalp? How long does the water last and it’s still ok to use? Thanks so much!!!

How often you use rice water depends on your hair’s porosity. If you have low porosity hair only uses it every 6-8weeks and make sure to moisturize and seal afterward. If you have high porosity hair you can use it more like once a week or once every two weeks. You can apply it on your scalp if you want but the magic happens when you spray it on your strands. The water can last pretty long if you refrigerate it

Awesome, awesome content! I just wanted to find out if once you start using it, you'd have to continue it or if your hair growth would then reverse if you stopped using it

You'll see an increase, but if you stop your growth rate will go back to normal.
