Black Rock Mountain State Park, named for its sheer cliffs of dark-colored biotite gneiss, encompasses some of the most outstanding country in Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Located astride the Eastern Continental Divide at an altitude of 3,640 feet, Black Rock Mountain is the highest state park in Georgia.
This place is super nice! The bathrooms are immaculate and heated. The shower water is very hot too! The camp host does a fantastic job maintaining this site. Every camp site appeared spotless with NO cigarette butts or bottle tops or any trash anywhere. One warning though, the drive up the mountain is a long and steep winding road! I did my best to record the drive up/down but the video does not show how steep the drive is. This being said, we made it up with our under-powered, 35-foot skoolie while towing the car on the dolly so any well maintained properly loaded vehicle should make it there just fine.
