True, though 20 years ago you'd of been hard pressed to find a single American who didn't support it. And if you had, they'd of probably been plastered on a terroist playing card.,

@@somersetcace1 Agreed! I supported going in and getting Bin Laden and destroying the Taliban as much as they could be destroyed. What I never supported and knew would fail was the attempted nation building.
@somersetcace1
@somersetcace1 3 жыл бұрын
@@tallykev6608 Yep, I'm with you on that. It's a fools quest, especially in a country like that. It also didn't help that we split not only our forces, but focus in then invading Iraq. We also lost quite a bit of foreign support. All of which would have been necessary to even have a chance of truly eliminating the Taliban. However, I'm not even sure that would have mattered. Afghanistan isn't called "The Graveyard of Empires" for nothing.
@tallykev6608

@@somersetcace1 don't get me started on Iraq! Agree that even with more outside support it would have been a long shot to wipe out the Taliban. It's a religion/way of life as much as it is an army or government. The resistance had to come from the people rather than the U.S. government. Massoud was probably the best chance they had and he was whacked early on.

Ozzy’s voice in this song sounds like a maniacal preacher giving his sermon. His delivery so fits the music. I think in much of Ozzy’s vocal work is not classic but maniacal and it is so appropriate for the music and lyrics.

ozzy is ozzy, But this song is all about Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer on bass and OMG Bill Ward (with the most simplistic drumkit) absolutely destroying it. I love Ozzy, but nobody in the World had heard music played like this when this was released

This song took criticism back in the day because it mentioned the name Satan. At the time I just thought they were stupid because the lyrics are actually talking about judgement day and the evil war mongers getting their just reward. It wasn't until years later I realized, no, they knew exactly what this song was about and they didn't like it one bit. So, they made up an excuse to attack it.

This song was one of those that was big in Vietnam. You would often hear it playing on someone's cassette player. (Civil Air Patrol then Air Force ✈️ here) And of course in in America some places it was a radio hit and others it was banned. Considered a protest song. Appropriate for what's happening today. We , 14 of us, seen Sabbath in 81. It was the black and blue concert Molly Hatchet then Blue Oyster Cult followed up by Black Sabbath. All had their sound systems combined outside at a baseball Stadium. It was summer but monsoon season in AZ. We were prepared with a tarp when a Habu blue in. Ozzy was still belting away while they played with the Thunder roaring in the background and lightning flashing. They didn't see what was coming their backs were faced to it. It blew much of the soundstage with the mixers over, and damaged most of the speakers. There was the field where there was chaos. Everyone else was making a stampede for cover. We pulled that giant tarp over us and watched. Immediately after they ran off stage they said hang on to your tickets, we're coming back to do it again. And again they did. It was at the ASU Activity Center in the '70s when Ozzy bit a head off the bat. What a great time to be young. Except for Vietnam and the Cold War hanging over our heads.lol Perhaps it won't be long before once again you'll have your draft number memorized. ✌️☮️ 🤠🐂🏞️🛩️

Been a sabbath fan since i was a teenager in the 80's in the 90's i was in a war in europe and this intro would be on repeat in my head as me and my mates would be heading to our next objective. I saw them at Madison Square Garden with Van Halen..OMG, they both kicked a**! First time I ever heard Black Sabbath, my friend at the time (bass player in a famous band) brought me there to show me what heavy metal sounded like...I was not able to move in my seat the whole time. They opened with "Iron Man" and it was loud/intense. WOW!!!!!
